KS0 Pro Break-Even Progress, Profit & Cooling Upgrades

Ғылым және технология

In this video I give an update on current profit and how close I am to breaking-even on my KS0 Pro Kaspa ASIC purchased in early December 2023. I also perform a cooling upgrade to reduce the ASIC temperature.

The mesh style plates restrict air if you have shrouds attached. At least that's how it was for me.

Are the shrounds oriented correctly? I would think the shrounds lift up the ks0 so the stock fans can pull in air as well. The way it is now the stock fans are right against the table.

I would think you would get even better temps raising it up a bit so the stock intake fans can pull more air, also why even put the side brackets on? wouldn't having those holed plates off increase air flow?

i found shrouds choked the fans down too much. i could feel air blowing back out the intake side because it had no where else to go. i have a bunch of these. pro and non pro. theyre mostly all running off standard psu's 12v and all are oc'd 150 -300+gh. i put mine on some repurposed open air mining frames. i used wood on the bottom for the miners to sit on and used the fan mounts they came with. i 3d printed stands for all the miners so they have air flow under them as well. took off both side grilles and put them fairly close to the fans so the fans blow straight through the machines and cool top and bottom. they all stay cool and i dont have a dozen+ cooking hot power bricks any more. i tried a bunch of different setups but this has been the best so far. just make sure you use quality 8 pin to ks0 power plug adaptors if running 12v. i had some 6 pins melt with the 300gh oc

The best thing you can do to properly cool these when OC'ing is to apply small heatsinks to the power stage ICs. These are what get hot, and what are driving the exhaust temps. Hash chip temps are not a concern on these models. There's also a much better OC firmware that graphs all these metrics for you, including the power stage temps, and allows actual tuning of the clocks and voltages, so you can tune for even higher hashrate. Or at a minimum, avoids using someone else's guess at the required voltage which is almost certainly more than actually required for most machines.

The Meter Box folks calls it a shroud. Technically, it's a plenum. Waiting for my own shroud and grills from TMB. Hoping to win one of those KSO Pro's. Fingers crossed.

I would've just 3d printed you some. Thingiverse has them for free, same for the side panels too

@@BlessedNoobI plan to do that once I receive the new special edition KS0. Need to verify the dimensions vs the build volume of my Replicator 3D printer. Looks like your new BL P1S could definitely handle the job though. Keep on innovating my friend.

I run mine at 340Gh/s, 171W, board in 31 out 69 Celsius (ambient at 26), don't use the grills they reduce the flow. Also put the power supply on top of it, close to the shroud for the ethernet/intake it will help cooling the psu and also channel the cold air to the more hot side that is the here you connect the power. I use Thermalright TL-B12 2150rpm they are very good even bring the screws to fix it to the shroud. After my psu fail I discover it's important to have a good psu before I had almost 5% rejected and after connect it to a lab psu had 0%, got a new one for a laptop and have 0,013% rejected. Don't know if you put heatshinks in the 4 mosfet they are need, with the short ones 5mm I had them at 92 Celcius for the 60 of the board, use good and tall ones. Thanks for your channel like it a lot.

Take the end covers off. Those 3d printed covers still block 50% of the air. Not needed.
