The secret of what happened after episode 17 is that the game crashed and the whole save was lost, with nothing left. I rebuilt everything from scratch, including the farm, machines, store amounts, and field states as close to the original as possible. Did you notice anything different? I was able to do it by watching videos from earlier in the game.
