Kristaps Porzingis on Bam Adebayo Matchup: "I Don’t Care About Him." | Celtics vs Heat Postgame

Спорт

BOSTON -- In the aftermath of the Boston Celtics commanding 114-94 victory over the Miami Heat in their first-round playoff opener, Kristaps Porziņģis addressed his matchup with Bam Adebayo. When asked if he took the competition personally, Porziņģis firmly refocused the narrative: "I don’t care about him. I care about our team and what we’re trying to achieve. This is not one on one, me against Bam. This is Celtics vs Heat.”

It was the perfect answer re him and Bam (though the headline to the video reads like locker room motivation for the Heat which it was not). If he were to focus on his stats vs Bam's stats that's a slippery slope to getting away from team basketball and always trying to make the "right play" in every moment. It's human nature to want to fill up a stat sheet so that will always be there with every player but the more you focus on the right play you are more likely to reach the ultimate goal. He is absolutely the key piece for this team...Brad getting him, White and Holliday was pretty much genius...
