How does it land? I know it can do conventional take offs and landings but how did it land in this video? Where there some type of airbag system?

Not conventional takeoff (at least not this flight). Used rails and rocket assist for takeoff. Assumed parachute and what looks like airbags for landing.

Sweet as a nut. Just wondering though, did it have a failure of some kind? One moment it was flying, the next it’s laying on its belly in the dirt.

The orange bags look to have inflated for an off field touchdown. Seems like it was done only for testing as the drone won't necessarily be coming back as this thing is more or less a flying bomb so landing gear are not really needed.

@@ImpendingJoker USAF wants a drone that can take off and land vertically for the pacific theater, hence the rocket take off and parachute landing. The airbag/parachute concept looks like a pain in the ass to recover.

Oh man... I honestly wish they deleted the audio? Hello? Much of it was just odd sounding and confused. That said, sadly, if Kre'mlin HQ had this type drone in development, they'd probably already be mass-producing these at up to 500 units/yr to include a 250kg thermobaric payload ?

If it sounded confused or odd then you must have a tough time in life. That is pretty standard conversation when people are working on equipment.

@@ImpendingJoker -- sorry, it could have been made aware to sound more professional. Especially the formation flying segment. Please, It was lower level maintenance sounding and can absolutely be stepped up. I work around basic maintenance crews every week, we all work around general maintenance crews. This should be sharper in a constructive way, not negative way. Thanks for keeping it positive ✌

Seems like a crappy version of the Mq25 Ghost bat. Its like they designed this to be as expensive as possible for taxpayers having no landing gear for easy recovery...

The ghost bat has a 1000mil combat range while the Valkyrie has a combat range of 3000 miles. The semi-horizontal take off is so it can be launched from areas without runways. Perfect for the marines

@@rustcohle349 4 million for a one time use drone. Wow so cheap. Been half a decade and it still isn't close to being operational. Also requires a truck and 10 guys to come scoop it up. Not to mention the moment one goes down it will be reverse engineered, then made for 1/10th of the cost and used against you.

@@Trule2456 it is "wow so cheap" considering US ain't paying skilled people 500$ a month like Russia & china. Tradeoff is the parachute recovery. @@rustcohle349 the people making it are getting like 50k usd a year, the coporate team for the company im sure gets payed 6 figures + but they dont make the product. The reverse engineering worked great for them, didn't you see Iran send all those drones and ballistic missles across the continent through multiple countries air defences and a GPS denied environment to strike Israel? Sure the Shahed might not look pretty but it seems to do the job better than any American offering
