I always felt terrible for his grandma. All these years, she regretted and wished that she could take her wish back. Couldn't blame her because it was probably the end of WW that people were starving and they all failed to teach her about giving and sharing hope on Christmas. To me, it was just out of anger that was it but she came slowly realized that the true sorrow was that she has no family to be with on her Christmas day.

Considering what people are like nowadays i wouldn't be surprised if Krampus had to go to millions of homes around the world.
When Krampus winked at her, that's his way of saying "You're safe, for now. But from now on you will remember what happens when the Christmas spirit dies. You will regret your wish, for this bell will be a reminder of when hope is lost."

It started with the wind, on a cold night, much like this. It was almost Christmas, but this Christmas was darker, less cheerful. But I still believed in Santa, in magic and miracles, and the hope that we could find joy again. But our village had given up on miracles, and on each other. They had forgotten the spirit of Christmas, the sacrifice of giving, and my family was no different. I tried to help them to believe again, but we were no longer the loving family I remembered. They too had given up. And eventually, so did I. And for the first time, I didn't wish for a miracle. I wished for them to go away. A wish I would come to regret. And that night, in the darkness of a howling blizzard... I got my wish. I knew Saint Nicholas was not coming this year. Instead, it was a much darker, more ancient spirit. The shadow of Saint Nicholas. It was... Krampus. And as he had for thousands of years, Krampus came not to reward, but to punish, not to give, but to take. He, and his helpers. I could only listen as they dragged my family into the underworld, knowing that I would be next. But Krampus did not take me that night. He left me, as a reminder of what happens when hope is lost, when belief is forgotten, and the Christmas spirit... dies.

In the early 70's, my grandmother first told us a story , "Soap Sally". Grandmother slept over many nights with us and always told us stories. Soap Sally was a mean, old, and scraggly woman and carried a tote sack on her back. She walked the neighborhood nightly, knocked on doors, and asked parents if they had mean kids. Of course, my mother gave my older brother, myself, and the youngest, David, to Sally, also our two cousins. (Annette is a demon's spawn) Soap Sally took us all to her old shack deep in the woods, shoved us in a fenced in area to fatten us up to feed her mean old husband. Our cousin, the oldest of all , always had wire cutters to set us free. To me, this is the "original" Krampus. I greatly miss Grandmama. A woman constantly wore a neckerchief..never seen without it. You know when I saw this scene and when Omi began to tell her story and the origin of Krampus to her family, I kinda feel sad and sorry for her when she was a little girl because her parents, her village people and town had giving up on Christmas Eve because something went wrong around their village and it turned into a nightmare and it's almost like there wasn't any joy of happiness around Christmas Eve. But Omi still believed in Santa Claus and miracles but it turns out there wasn't going to be any miracles or Christmas and when her parents had an argument the mother ripped off Omi's Santa Claus doll because it's almost like they're saying that they are done with Christmas and there's nothing left for them to do and they don't have anything to believe and to be happy anymore. When Omi pick up her Santa Claus doll she threw it in the chimney because she's giving up too as well because it's over for her, her parents, her village people and her town. Until one night something big and terrifying came to her house and it was Krampus the ancient demon and alternate dark shadow of St. Nicholas. Krampus came to punish the people that doesn't believe Christmas anymore and he brutally attacks Omi's parents in way that they should be punished for not believing in miracles and Christmas no more. But then when Krampus began to leave he left a little bell for Omi in a way that will be something to remember him. But now after many, many and many years later he has come back to finish what he started from the beginning but Omi thinks that all of this was her fault because she was the one that made Krampus to appear and she feels responsible for that but now he has come back to finish what he started by kidnapping and to punish her other family.

I think the reason Omi's parents and her village, whether it was in Germany or Austria was suffering from World War II and the war destroyed everyone's spirit, even after the war ended, they couldn't bring themselves happiness during Christmastime because whatever it was Nazi Germany did to them probably left a psychological scar that would never heal.

Know this; as penance for my coming, you will live the rest of your life, as a reminder of what happens when Hope has been lost, when Believe is forgotten, and when the Christmas Spirit.... *DIES.* And this bell that I leave you to carry with you for as long as you draw breath and walk this Earth, will serve as a symbol of it. That, is your punishment. And the lesson of, *KRAMPUS.* That's me." "Merry Christmas, and Goodnight."

Imagine if we actually DID hear him speak...
so when Kevin wished for his family to go away ...
Krampus not to claim Reward but to punish not to give but to take
Oh my God and goddess the horrible nightmare before Christmas and what ever you need never from greed.
Good movie
Very nice
The best of the movie
Yeah Thanks
if i remember correctly Omi was telling about the first christmas after WW2
That’s clear for family not trapped in Snow globe ending. She still freed outside when she was kid after krampus killed her family
I hope Krampus comes this Christmas to take my eldest sister away. I feel that unlike the rest of us, she doesn’t care about family traditions, and the Christmas spirit. She would rather do her phone or other non-important things instead of celebrating Christmas with the rest of us. I hope Krampus will come tonight and teach her a very important lesson.

That’s not how krampus works everyone does naughty stuff from time to time but not even a spirit like krampus can do whatever he wants

Poor o'mi
As much as I hated this film for not showing a bit more about Krampus, I can’t deny this scene was great to watch along with the other practical effects in this movie.
“English I knew it” 😂
2:54 There's Jac in the box 😂
3:03 There will be no one left will even remember your name... Ha ha ha! KAI IS COMING!
Krampus (past): Yo i ain’t taking ya. Im only here to punish not give.
During less cheerful, Christmas Eve, the monster people having a favor, like you know getting bread to eat
Sad story
We should always keep our Christmas spirit up.
And we all live in a world where love hope and generosity are in tragically short supply
Wow that is so sad I feel bad for her
😢😢😢😢😢😢😭😭😭😭😭
Love me some krampous
I would be happy to have my Christmas spirit when I have kids in the future without cruel, without doing something bad but to keep peace without an evil over our heads

The best kind of weapon is the one that never has to be used. Personal philosophy of mine: the best way to get off scot free is to not get in trouble in the first place.
This is an excellent example of why humanity needs to believe in hope. It may be a quite possibly fictional example. but it is an example nonetheless.

The animation in the backstory scene almost reminds me of a stop motion animated film from Laika studios like Coraline Paranorman and Kubo
I can’t get over how this flashback the grandmother was having was animated But why was it? It looked so like nightmare before Christmas and Coraline
This is pretty much the only good thing I love from Krampus. Even I’m no fan of horror movies.

Here I gave you a prank video for another cheer up
Such a wonderful actress and her voice (even though shes reading a horrifying heartbreaking tale) is very soothing
There’s a movie about it!?
Batman : my god
Krampus doesn't kill, but he can make you wish for death.
Ok I get that her parents were going through something but I know I’m not the only one that thinks Omi’s mom ripping her Santa plush was a dick move.

Harrumph! It was the end of WWII, I say those jerks were most likely mad their "fearless leader" failed to live up to his promises of richer places and now they have to deal misplaced people and as a result of their self-centered, intolerant tantrum they took it out on poor Omi!
That was one creepy story

I heard that Silent Night, Deadly Night caused a whole lot of controversy.
Krampus should have been played by Dwight from The Office, "Impish or Admirable!!!"
