Why can't there be something like this in every city now? Seriously, it pains me that it is so hard to find places where people are just openly into the shear joy of freestyle community dance like this.

I did not know, this happened in Detroit because of Kraftwerk‘s innovative music, when I was a highschool teenager back in 1981.😂 I knew later, for sure, cause I also became a great Techno and Trance lover in the Berlin of 1993-1997, visiting the Dance Clubs like Tresor and Matrix, Pleasuredome and so on.

That beat was played in so many skating rinks and break dancing floors since 1981. TBH I don’t think Kraftwerk wouldn’t be where they are if it weren’t for black radio. I remember hearing Numbers and Trans Europe Express on WBLS in NYC first.

I’m sorry but whaaaat?!! To me one of Kraftwerk’s main things was about finding the beauty in the everyday and mundane! How about Autobahn, which is basically about the joy of connecting with the machinery of a car while driving down the highway on a sunny day? Or Trans Europe Express, which uses the European railways as a metaphor for international unity and a new culture as Germany arose from the ashes of WWII? Or Tour de France, which is about the joys of riding a god damn bike?? Kraftwerk’s whole “cold and robotic” thing has always been part of their image and sound, but there’s so much more beyond the surface that makes them truly special. To me they will always evoke a sense of wonder and optimism about the world.

My personal opinion is that the use of Kraftwerk's music added the element of anticipation to popular dance music. The dance music elements shift in complexity in a way that excites the mind, IMO. This is very different from say, James Brown's music which created funk which started on the "One" and had a more predictable flow.
