Kraftwerk - Live In Birmingham 1991 [HOME REMASTER]

Kraftwerk, live at The Hummingbird, Birmingham (UK)
15th of July, 1991 during "The Mix Tour"
Recording quality : A (audience)
HOME REMASTER (beware of the bass)
Setlist :
00:00 Numbers
05:00 Computer World
09:43 Home Computer
17:47 Computer Love
24:37 The Model
28:22 Tour De France
35:36 Autobahn
47:27 Radioactivity
54:30 Trans-Europe Express
01:05:10 Pocket Calculator
01:16:46 The Robots
01:26:02 Music Non Stop
Notes :
This is my home remaster of the quite famous "Traffic Jam" bootleg. It's one of the most accessible and one of the best good sounding one recorded from "The Mix Tour" in 1991. Problem : it sounds a bit weak and flat, so I "boosted" the bass a bit more,
and did some equalization to minimise the noise and enhance the global sound. The result is quite nice, especially with headphones on.
This 1991 Europe tour was quite famous for the bass-heavy live sound the band had. Sadly, it's quite difficult to find a real good-sounding bootleg of that 90-93 era...
The performance is great, no errors, many improvisations and all the tracks are well performed. The symbiosis between the band and the public is great, just listen to the whole ambience
during "The Model", "Radioactivity" or "Pocket Calculator" !
Line-up :
Ralf Hutter : vocals, synclavier, electronics
Fernando Abrantes : keyboards, samples, electronics
Fritz Hilpert : electronic percussions
Florian Schneider : robovox, effects, electronics

I was lucky enough to be there .....seen them play many times since ....saw Karl Bartos play same place a few years later and me and my mate was 2 of only about 150/200 folks watching. Hooky and Barney was there from New Order who I watched the next day at Manchester Apollo...what a great 2 nights..

That would've been 1998, when Karl started to do solo shows and Barn & Hooky started to be friends again ! Thanks for the memories

@@Blank_Frank I was at the 1991 gig too. Also, saw Karl in Birmingham on the Communication tour. I still have the t-shirt, so I would think it was 2003/04.

I was there , and if I remember correctly , they had no support band , just some kind of radar dish picking up alpha waves (from the stars I seem to remember) and converting it into sound . Truly the MOST mind blowing concert I have ever been to - and also ( I think) the first time they had performed for at least a decade. I have a bootleg CD of the recording , but would love to see video footage ...

Well, technically, they performed four shows in july 1990 around Italy, so it wasn't their first gig in a decade. If you're speaking about GB though, well, they played Glasgow, Manchester & Liverpool just before Birmingham.

The fantastic bassline (taken from the 1991 single edits of Radio Activity) of Radio Activity was removed after the earlier stages of the 1991 tour. It's a shame as it sounds amazing!

Yeah the English tour was still a bit hit or miss for Kraftwerk, they were still getting used to their new live equipment and were more prompt to try new things out ! And with Fernando on board, the funk was pushed to the max !

This is one of my favourite KW bootleg recordings ever - thanks for doing this cleanup work! The audience are loving every second, and you can hear a few comments here and there about the songs. I especially like the Numbers/Computerworld and Robots recordings.

Kraftwerk's fascination of technology, mechanization and automation was ahead of the time. They were visionaries and pioneers in a technical thinking about music. What makes that every track has got a futuristic sound, combined with a cosmic atmosphere. Their creativity is totally beyond time and space. Brilliant concert. The best part starts from "Autobahn".💙 Great sound quality.💗

What a great performance and reaction at Autobahn!!! Throughout Listening to Kraftwerk's Setlist from 1970 to 2019, I think they were very passionate and energetic during the tour of '81-'92. It also sounds very ample and sharp. But it doesn't mean they are not good nowadays, They're still the one of the greatest musician. Yet there's always rises and falls to anybody you know...

@@Blank_Frank I have it in the same order, but it's the Dynamo Deutschland bootleg instead of the Traffic Jam bootleg that got the order corrected by an user from Discogs. There's an alt recording of Birmingham '91 that has lower quality, but might have the correct order. I had to delete it to save disk space, but I still have parts of it from the Heute Abend bootleg.
