I'm a white guy from Australia who went to a mostly white high school. People who couldn't really relate on a personal level to the lives of people like Ice Cube and Snoop Dogg (while they may have listened to their music) could relate to Eminem. He really was huge back in the early 2000s (yes, I know this song was a little later).

If you like the song, make sure to listen to the non-music video version because the music video is missing an entire verse from the original version, and it's a great verse too

This is the short version, with only 2 verses, missing the last and the outro. That's why En says "listen to the tell I'm about to tell", the story comes in the missing part. He explained: "One of the only reasons that I put that track on there (relapse album) is that I feel like it's the best song out of that batch that I did when I wasn't sober. At the time I felt like, 'This is it for me.' I wrote the first verse and a half in rehab, and when I came out, I finished it. It was the only song that marks that period without bringing me back to that place. Every other track not only didn't fit with the album, but when I listened to it, it would bring up bad memories." Great reaction I'm definitely your fan!

Hi Giddy, I recommend you to listen by yourself this song but on a "Just Audio" version, not just because the video has the censored version but also because in the video doesn't comes the last part of the song, it's not to much, just some words that Em says at the end, but those words give so much more power to the song and it hits harder when you listen to it. There is actually a 3rd verse. They cut it from the Music Video. Eminem sang the first two verses while being drunk. And the last one Sober. You can hear it in his Tone

You know I didn't really like the relapse album when I first heard it back in 09. I was really excited for it because I heard crack a bottle and we made you on the radio consecutively and got pumped for it. Mostly because I had not heard anything from him or D12 in a long time. There was a underground mixtape called return of the dozen. Released a year before I heard about through my brother but didn't listen to it. Plus Eminem was not on it so I didn't check it out until around the time the bad meets evil album came out. But with relapse I bought it on day one and listened to it and hated it at first. Idk why I felt cheated? like the marketing was amazing but the finished product felt like a flop IMO. I sat on it for like a year and around the time he was marketing recovery I gave it another listen. And realized I got the Walmart version which was heavily censored which BTW is total a**. I had heard a couple of the uncensored songs before but not the whole album. I was really liking the songs shown for recovery so I picked up relapse: refill which was a reissue with some new songs featuring Drake, lil Wayne and kanye. who were really starting to pick up steam at the time. Especially lil Wayne because I loved the Carter III and wanted to hear forever again but on the album. I really enjoyed it more this time. Especially since it was uncensored still can't believe Walmart does that. Seriously they censored "butt". what are they freaking 12? 🤣 But since then I've been a huge fan of EM again. because I loved recovery felt a little underwhelmed with MMLP2. Felt revival didn't deserve the hate. Definitely enjoyed kamikaze. And absolutely loved music to be murdered by and music to be murdered by side b. I actually really, really like EM's new stuff more almost. I've been a fan since MMLP1 and felt he was getting weak around encore but picked it right back up with relapse after a year for me lol. I will continue to be a huge fan forever.
