Last year, BABYMETAL performed about 100 shows in 25 countries around the world. Despite such a hard schedule, the girls did not show any signs of fatigue, but rather their performances became more polished with each concert, with SU-METAL's voice in particular becoming more and more refined. Last night was the final concert of the tour, and the audience was intoxicated by SU-METAL's even more evolved voice.

That's still insane to me, and not actually across all 2023, most of those shows are really in a span of ~9 months (Apr - Dec)! That's so many performances in such quick succession non-stop. They are absolute pros!

Well they didn't show their exhaustion but as they acknowledged they were exhausted. They are obviously reducing their peformances this year a bit. After Fox they are done with live Shows in Japan this year. They will also deliver thrir Festival dates but I wouldn't expect much more. Especially Moa seems to feel her age and her additional jobs.

Thanks, this song is most likely about war and never losing hope for a better tomorrow because "no matter how long the night, the morning will arrive". About the mixing, yes they usually add a backtrack but only for MOA and MOMO, the two dancers/ chorists, but this is the polished version for BRD, when you watch them live is barely notable, their voices are much stronger. As for SU, she doesn't need any extra support really, her voice is like a wall of sound live! 🤘🦊⚡️

Su has occasional backing tracks for harmonies, but she doesn't need any boost for volume. That's a big reason why Koba built this group around her. Her voice can cut through heavy guitars and drums.

Good first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole.🦊You already have some details on their history and origins, so I won't repeat everything you've been told. Just to pick up on a couple of things you said. Yes their songs are all really well constructed, the balance between the vocals and instrumentals is just right. The choreo is also not what you might be used to from KPop and other artists who use choreo - BABYMETAL's choreo serves a couple of very real purposes. It is bespoke for every song (they work with one of Japan's very best choreographers) and in most songs it relates to or even helps with interpreting a lyric or the meaning of the song. On top of that it is designed to involve the audience. The crowd will follow the lead of the girls, they will take their cues from them when to jump, pump their fists, chant and sing along etc. On Su-metal's vocals. The whole concept was formed and developed around her vocal talents and unusually loud (for a JPop singer) and very straight singing style. She uses very little or no vibrato, she hits and holds notes almost impeccably. There is no enhancement of her vocals on backing track, she really is that good and the tone she has sits above the instrumentals. At most she will have pre-recorded some harmonies, but the main vocal lines you hear in their live performances is what she is singing (the studio recordings, especially in the first two or three albums, are more compressed and over-produced, you will hear the difference - her live vocals are better) ... as I said, the whole concept was formed and developed around her vocal talents for very good reason. On top of that is their stage presence. All three of them are barely above 5 feet tall, but when they get on stage they could be giants, they command attention, all eyes on them. There is nobody quite like BABYMETAL. They have nearly 70 songs now, each one different to the last. They have songs in virtually every metal genre, but they will mix and blend so many other musical styles and genres with the metal - usually when you least expect it. You already have a couple of great lists of songs ... expect the unexpected.

Yes, SU-METAL's crystal clear voice reaches straight to the arena sky seats like a laser beam without going off pitch, no matter how heavy the performance is. Since all the songs sung live are performed by a live band, her voice is unfiltered and live, with only minimal reverb and backing vocals. Her voice stirs our lacrimal glands and many in the audience are moved to tears. Of course, there are many who cry not only during ballads but also during intense songs, one of the reasons why BABYMETAL is considered one-of-a-kind in the world.😁😁😁

Su was chosen for the lead vocalist of Babymetal because of her strong vocals, so she wouldn’t get overpowered by the metal band. She was able to do so from the start and it hasn’t changed to this day. ❤🤘🦊🔥

Nice first reaction. 👊🏽⚡️”Organized chaos”, is a great description of Babymetal’s music. The lead singer Su-Metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) has a very piercing clear voice. You can really hear that in the quiet breakdown when she asked the audience to take their phones out. She has no problem singing over a full metal band and keyboard intstruments. 🦊🤘🏾

It's interesting that the clean, high pitched vocals and the Metal music are perceived as a juxtaposition, as it works so amazingly well. The vocals sit on top of the instrumental groundwork very nicely without them getting in each other's way. It's actually baffling that so few Metal bands are doing this.

Welcome & Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 BABYMETAL is the best musical phenomenon I have ever experienced in my 68-year-long life. (Before BM, I was a stubborn jazz / funk lover) We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". That point is totally different from other Asian countries. The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.) Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄

Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal's metalverse 🦊🤘🌐 Always nice to see more reactors getting into this amazing group, soon you will get a lot of comments helping you with anything about this amazing project and group, trust me, you won't see any other like them around. BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old when started this and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute) mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms. Their name is a reference to a new genre and not related to their ages or "baby" faces, is a pun intended play words with "heavy-metal" which sounds similar to "baby-metal". They are: - *SuMetal* lead vocalist, now 26. - *MoaMetal* scream and dance, now 24. - *MomoMetal* scream and dance, she's 21 and is the new official member since April 1st last year. - -YuiMetal- scream and dance, former member since 2018. None of them are related. After 2018 you'll see backup dancers performing along with them but none of them are official members, they don't sing, only dance, but that status change recently like i said. About this song: All of us are captivated by SuMetal voice, she really pierce into our souls with this unique talent. Song is more like hard rock and is one of the highlights when performing live like recently during all comcerts performed at World Tour 2023 as well today and yesterday in Okinawa for the first time. I'm gonna leave in my next comment where to get more clips from early era safe to react if YT allows me to do it. Meanwhile next suggestion: - Headbanger!! live at Legend 1997, Gans Tomas got that clip under "Head Bangya" title. Hope to see you next time with more BM songs. 🦊🤘🌈

Great reaction! Welcome to the Babymetal Foxhole. You will likely find out soon there is a lot more interest in Babymetal reactions than you think. I'm not some music or sound expert so I'm not sure I will use the correct words but it's always been my understanding that Su is heard so clearly because her voice occupies a space well above that of the instruments. That way, the two sounds don't compete with each other. I think I'm referring to frequency? I'm pretty sure they also have her mic volume up quite a bit. In the live shows I've see, her voice is ear piercing but still beautiful. There are some vocal backing tracks for certain parts of certain songs just to add some harmonies. It's usually pretty easy to tell when that happens. Otherwise, it's all her.

Great first reaction! 🤘🦊🤘 Thank you for giving BABYMETAL a chance!!! BABYMETAL is a Japanese kawaii (cute) metal group (a metal subgenre that they created) that formed in 2010 when the 3 girls were 11-12 years old (yes, they were very young), and since then have performed with, toured with, or opened for Metallica, Korn, Sabaton, Bring Me The Horizon, Dragonforce, Guns N' Roses, Lady Gaga, Rob Halford of Judas Priest (there's a great youtube video of their performance with Rob at a metal award show), and Red Hot Chili Peppers (there is a youtube video of them performing Gimme Chocolate with RHCP, as well as with Korn, and DragonForce), to name a few of many. They have performed at large metal events/concerts in front of 65,000+ skeptical metalheads in Europe (Download, Sonisphere, Glastonbury, etc), US, and Asia. They are the first Japanese band to perform at Wembley arena in the UK. Also, 20+ awards have been given to them. They have 60+ songs and each one is different from the other, so I hope you give the other songs a try. By the way, they have some really great heavy songs too, and I hope you like guitar solos, as well as bass and drum solos, like I do, because they have them too. Also, they released a new amazing album last year and they just finished a world tour where they had many shows here in the US. They also recently released a new music video for their song called "Metali" that features Rage Against The Machine's Tom Morello. 🤘🦊🤘

This is actually Babymetal being quite restrained. Babymetal's blend of metal and J-pop (and other things) is often regarded as being pretty chaotic, but Monochrome is one of their more melodic songs. If you want to see them being a bit more intense check out "Headbanger", "Mirror, Mirror", "BxMxC", "Maya", or "Babymetal Death". We always recommend to watch the live versions of any Babymetal song, as they are at their best when they have a live audience to interact with.

👍 👍 Great reaction and welcome. Here is some information if you decide you want to explore the best LIVE band on the planet. BabyMetal began in 2010 there were Suzuka Nakamoto age 12 Moa Kikuchi and Yui Mizuno. Both Moa and Yui were 11 years old. All three girls were friends and classmates who attended an idol group (Sakura Gakuin) founded in 2010 by Amuse Talent Agency for girls 10 to 15. Themed around school life (they attended regular school as well) the girls would learn and train at vocals, dancing, public speaking and etiquette, etc., graduate at age 15 and then move onto whatever entertainment path they chose or that suited their talents. Key Kobayashi was a music producer for Amuse and heard Suzuka sing at age 9 and was impressed with her strong vocals and stage presence. Kobayashi was a fan of heavy metal but believed that the genre had become stale and tired (especially in Japan) with metal bands getting old Kobayashi believed the genre needed to be reborn (BabyMetal means the birth of a new metal genre). Kobayashi felt that Suzuka had the ability to front a metal band and that her vocals and presence could withstand the metal guitars and drums. The fusion of Jpop and Metal began. He placed Moa and Yui as backup singers/dancers and a phenomenon was about to result. In the beginning Amuse showed little interest and the girls had minimal financing. They performed at strip malls and small venues borrowing clothes for shows from friends and family. No money for a real band they had friends dressed in homemade skeleton costumes pretending to play instruments to a backtrack. They quickly became a sensation (these young ladies paid their dues). Amuse saw the potential and in 2012 hired the best session musicians Japan had to offer (The Kami Band) who tours with them today (now includes world class musicians from the USA for tours outside of Asia). If you choose to explore more of BabyMetal I suggest reacting to HQ pro shot videos of LIVE performances instead of official MV's (the reason is that the vast majority of MV's use studio audio over LIVE footage AND without the awesome Kami Band instrumentals) They have over 60 LIVE songs/performances and each one is different. They are fearless exploring many genres and have the respect of the legends of Metal such as Metallica, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, Dragonforce, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Judas Priest and more. Avoid Glastonbury LIVE performances as the sound production by the BBC (who was in charge of that festival did a terrible job - mics not turned on, incorrect volume levels, etc.) Suggest reacting to these HQ Pro Shot videos of LIVE performances for a start. Nice reaction, particularly as it was-almost-a first take. From your pre-reaction comments I really did wonder how you'd react and was very pleased that you enjoyed this performance. For what it's worth this is one of my favorites for a number of reasons. I was very glad you mentioned Su's amazingly clear voice. It is a beautiful wonder too many and in many ways it is Su's voice that gave birth to Babymetal. Excellent reaction. That said I do have a couple of little nits to pick, they are small but I'll mention them to deal with as you do or don't see fit. Your captions were so large as to completely obscure the video at times-copyright? And you cut the cheers at the end of the performance. That always feels really jarring to me. It's like the crowd and Babymetal have such chemistry, always. To just cut the crowd-to me at least-almost like a jump scare at a movie. It's just too abrupt. Second Personally I'd love to see you react to more Babymetal. Recommend sticking to live performances. Babymetal's performances are legendary and that always comes across in a reaction. You'll no doubt get a lot of suggestion's. Here's mine and it is epic. Metal Kingdom Live at PIA Arena 2023 (link follows). kzread.info/dash/bejne/qphhztWwepXLY84.html

Great reaction, and welcome... back? to Babymetal! 😁 They are one of my favorite bands, that I didn't know I needed! They sit in that perfect goldilock zone for me. I like pop vocals, but do not enjoy the musical style with most pop songs. Opposite, I love metal music, but don't always enjoy the harsh vocals. Babymetal combines the two in the best way possible and I love it! Also, they are so varied in their styles and influences. Here's a sample of how different they can be: *iine (Official MV):* Babymetal's 2nd song ever, well over a decade ago when they were little. EDM, rap, and metal, in one song, and none of it is "blended". Epic "WTF" moment lol. *Road of Resistance:* Their decade+ staple show closer, and an epic anthem. Classic power metal, with amazing vocals, and epic crowd participation. Watch the "Official Live" for an early Babymetal experience, or "Pia Arena MM 2023" for the more mature, grown up Babymetal experience (same concert, but day 1 as Monochrome). *Akatuski (Budokan 2014):* Love ballad, but Babymetal style. *Metalizm (Pia Arena MM):* Trans-Metal? *Metali (Official Live):* Fun metal festival song, gets you up and going. Features Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine on guitar solos. Look forward to more Babymetal! 🤘🦊

Headbanger - live legend 97, Catch me if you can, Megitsune, Shine, Starlight, Arkadia (all 3 back to back if you can, it's a trilogy), Yava, Awadema Fever, Syncopation From Dusk till Dawn, They're incredible, you can't go wrong.

They have tracks for the backing vocals, but not for Su. She sings raw live, however, they do post-production when publishing pro-shots like this video.

Thanks for your react, from a kpop and babymetal fan 🙂 From the same concert, i'd recommend Divine Attack (kzread.info/dash/bejne/e4KGsrJwaLbciNY.htmlsi=qRJeOjnbHPwATXEk) and for a cup of prog metal, their unique Tales of Destinies performance (kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZZ6JsJujdLOemtY.htmlsi=_pjTbpVKVDCwIxXM) and of course, for a dose of PIANO, the piano version of Monochrome !! No comparison both different style and how they perform. BabyMetal does not feel the need for reveling clothes and dancing is more respectful not as if doing audition for a lap dancer 🤣🤘🏼🦊
