There are many important movements a batsmen must make to try to master bowling attacks, but KP says not many are as important as this one

Anshuman Malik After the seniors retired, Peterson was booming and the best batsman for England. But he didn't listen to the captain i.e. Strauss. Had verbal spat a few times. After Strauss, England team was in a bad phase as Seniors didn't get along. In world cup of 2010 he had an average of 55 + , though they were disqualify quite early. But the team wasn't doing any good. So they made cook the captain. Peterson didn't like the decision. He retired from ODI and T-20 in 2012 to focus on tests. In ashes England lost 5-0, Peterson had an average of 29. Strauss became the director of ECB, it was easier to sack Peterson. Peterson was sacked but he kept playing domestic cricket in hope one day they will select. Be scored centuries and double centuries but Strauss wasn't ready to take him. Even when England was in worst phase and every one was hopeful for Peterson's entry because of his great form in hone cricket. But they didn't take him in team. Although he used to attract quite an audience and money in IPL. He even left an IPL and crores of money just to play domestic cricket so that they would be impressed by his form and dedication and would take him in the national team. But it wasn't good enough for them. His record didn't grow as much as it should have. It is a sad story for the guy but he will be one of the most loved players despite having almost no records.

Kartikeya Kumar Yes it seems to be a South African thing. Only trouble I see with it is that it's hard with this technique to play an aerial drive a la Damien Martyn, Ricky Ponting, or when he was in rare form, Marlon Samuels. Because you're already a little bent forward if you decide to go forward you're going to remain stooped whereas the aerial drive is played best from a more upright position. The lack of that ability has probably hurt the South Africans in their limited cricket but helped avoid an unnecessary risk in test matches

Crazy Geeks The South Africans' inability to chip the ball over the infield has been a source of vulnerability for a long time. Most famously of course in world cup death matches against New Zealand where the Kiwis would bring the field in and bowl spin and the South Africans just couldn't trust themselves to loft over the infield. The same tactic never worked against Asian sides like Sri Lanka. If you bowled left arm spin to Mahela Jayawardene with the field up, he'd chip 25 peace-loving Buddhist boundaries to the extra cover boundary and raise his bat. Anyone can play a shot once in a while. It's a whole other thing to own it and be able to deploy it when you want. Kallis of course didn't hit the ball in the air much on general principle but even Kevin Pietersen who hit plenty of sixes seldom did so with lofted drives. I'm speaking of course of lofted drives to length balls, not rank half volleys

Absolute loss for world cricket.....KP you were the one who redefined this present England team....and look what they have done.....They are probably the best and the most exciting ODI team in the world at the moment.....only because they learnt that art from you.....What a loss for England....

KP was one of the my most favourite batsmen. He always presents the basics in such a clear way! The advice to keep the head close to the ball ('kiss the ball') in order to watch the ball better (and make better decisions) really helps a lot.

The man i grew up watching❤❤
What he said about watching the short ball is something I think a lot of modern players today need to learn. They seem to play it worse and worse every year
Recently I saw one Bangladeshi U19 player doing this in the U19worldcup final.
My all time favorite kp
