Kove 450 Rally timing key, pros vs cons.

I take a ride on my kove rally 450 to see if the advanced timing key mod is worthwhile and what drawbacks come with it.

Having the PRO version since day 1 & being uncorked from the factory and now just installed the KEY & the new PRO RALLY flash this bike is off the charts. I've never had any issues with venting or any type of fuel boiling issues as well as any stalling/flameouts.

I think it has alot to do with the tune and trying to be emissions compliant.

I’m the guy who had the tank melt. But I put those stubby one-way tank vents on the caps which didn’t allow the pressure to release. I switched them out for some Taco Moto check valve hoses that allow air out, but not in. I’m switching the rear tank vent out for a cap vent. I also wrapped the inside of the right tank with heat tape. Hopefully this works. Haven’t put enough hard riding in to verify this. As for tires, I’m running the Motoz Mountain Hybrid for the rear, and Shinko Fatty up front. Been running that combo on several bikes now and it’s fantastic. I get quite a bit of life out of them despite the pavement riding. I also didn’t feel that much of a difference with the timing key. What I’m waiting for is the GET or Vortex ECU. That made a huge difference on my 501. I’d imagine they can control more of the low end power with that. We’ll see. Great video!

Seems like the stock tank vents don't do anything. They build up internal pressure and vacuum.

@@TMBchopshop Took the bike out today for an hour. The Taco Moto vent lines seemed to work. I didn't get any pressure or stalling. I think the heat tape also worked since the fuel didn't boil. More testing is needed.

pirelli mt21 front and rear is a great combo. i think the reflash will really help with the stalling as well

Try the Mitas E12 rear and Mitas E13 front. 80/20 offroad tyres, great on mud, great on everything, and really correct on tarmac. I had it on my T7. Planning to put them on the Kove as well

I just ordered a set of Motoz Desert H/T for my Kove. Going to wait until I tear up the stockers before I switch.

i use metzeler mc360 mid hard - last on roads and do plenty well off road - my last rear did best part of 3k miles and i only changed as i had a race, if i wasn't racing it likely had another 1k in it - i have never seen fuel boil or so much pressure come from a tank, i only ever heard pressure like that when i ran my diesel to the bottom of the tank

Ive had nothing but good things with the timing, ecu, and pro exhaust. I didn’t do the timing key alone so it’s hard to compare. I did have venting issues today and the bike died at speed. It stalled more often before that 🧐. Stupid me, had a 1 way valve on the vent tube and I just pulled it off, all good after that. I’m running the most aggressive DOT GoldenTyres which are awesome. It’s a 120 rear.

Doing multiple things at once makes it impossible to know what component made the real change. I know the factory ecu really has the bike choked up along with the stock exhaust. No doubt the timing key will have a bigger impact once the ecu and exhaust is done.

@@TMBchopshop I think a combo of it made the change. Figured I’d do all at once 🤷🏻. Bike was fine in stock form and it would probably benefit from an ecu tune first. I couldn’t say no to the 7 pound weight savings and titanium goodness. It definitely runs cooler now and is much harder to stall.

@@Trailfocused definitely. The stock muffler is so heavy. I'm hoping the tune is everything I dream it is.

@@TMBchopshop the tune should help. I'd like to see a lower idle as well. I am swapping the throttle cables and housing to a KTM so I can run different grips and maybe even different throttle cams for quicker/slower throttle.

If the tanks building pressure or vacuum, somethings wrong. It'll effect your fuel psi by that amount as the pressure regulator is in the tank.

I have a 51 tooth on the rear. I feel the same way about it as the timing key. It makes a difference but not a huge one.

What time in the video? It's probably gas or coolant from the overflow when it was on its side

Nice looking though but like all Chineseum stuff cheaper up front, but sacrifice strength as other products it clones. IDK like some ways some people get to do the things they like on anything bikes, tools, equipment,u name it they clone it cheaper. So sometimes it's go cheap and hope or don't go. Lol. Sucks to be poor. Great video. You from around or close to WV.
