I'm not criying, there's a Rinat in my eye.
Leskis' face at 0:08. "There's your damn intro" 😂
its a gloriousl day here in Capetown, after a cycle and a swim in the sea... a wonderful coffee and Rinat..life is beautiful!
Most definitely one of the finest bassist of our times.
3:15 the tone. Many violoncello players would be proud of this color and intonation.

@@pinosevera Interesting, so did Mikyung Sung, and I’ve always thought her playing is much more cello-istic (lightly melodic and with clear, bright overtones) and less like a typical bass player (rough, gruff, and lugubrious, usually).
the vibrato is amazing
Simply gorgeous lush tone. Perfect for this piece really.

What he does at the ending of the 2nd movement is simply astounding. Taking it up another octave... It's inspired me to do the same for my audition in February. Rinat's rendition of any of the bass concertos I've seen are always exquisite.

This is actually common practice among many bass players, to do this section in harmonics. The first time I heard about this was back in the 90's, in a master class with the late Lucas Drew, where he suggested to try it this way.

I know this comment is old but Koussevistky does it in his own recording
This is a beautiful concerto, masterfully played.
So beautiful, and enjoyable to see the performance, not just hear it. A treat!
An outstanding musician bass-player ! He plays wth the "legerte" of a Cellist without losing the particularities of of the double bass
Well played!! breath taking.
So beautiful
Magnifique!!
Amazing performance! And great ccoustics in that room too.
It’s art... so excellent!!
Great balance b/t solo bass and piano accompaniment! Bravo!
Amazing and charming interpretation
Great!! Rinat Ibragimov bravo!!
8:13 dear lord
you have such a great lyrical voice and of course bond tone from the bass. And this is what makes a bass sound as much as beautiful as the cello does.
Beautiful
Fabulous!
The most beautiful tonal quality and perfect intonation I've ever heard -- and expressiveness!

You might like hearing Mikyung play these movements, even though they are just a low-res cellphone of her practicing in a noisy practice room with poor acoustics. But they are at least the equal of this anyway.

excellent!
At 7:10 I have to hand it to the accompanist, the tutti sounds insane.
I like the harmonics at the end!
Ibragimov is so metal! \,,/ Makes this piece sound amazing
very good, congratulations.
Bravo !!! : )

BEST !!!!
GREAT
Great! That's Koussevitzky.
WOW!
like a Boss.
It's Solo Fourths Tuning. The Strings for this Tuning are slightly thinner than Orchestral Double Bass Strings. Many players tuned them to Orchestral tuning to get a different sound.
whoa dude
He really nailed the harmonics. And everything else, of course, but the harmonics were what caught my ear.
Yes
PLAY THIS WITH LSO!!!! THIS WAS FANTASTIC!!!
Those octaves at 2:05 are just impossible to get, yet he has them so perfectly. Sigh.

Mikyung Sung… (when properly recorded in a decent acoustic at least). Expression and intensity like no one else. But also Luis Cabrera Martin, David Desimpelaere, Wies de Boeve, Odon Racz, Boguslaw Furtok, Michael Wolf, Minje Sung, Eugene Levinson in the past, and more.

I don't know the origins of this piece, but it wouldn't be strange for an orchestral arrangement to be swapped to piano for smaller performances like this.
Bassist is clever... does what he is supposed to do... pianist makes me want to vomit. have fun you'all
