KOTOR II: The Sith Lords Restored Content - The council and Darth Traya

Ойындар

A little snippet of one of the many scenes expanded by the restored content mod, and one I deicded to record briefly as I went through a new playthrough, being one of my favourite scenes.
Supposedly, a darkside player is able to have only master Vash appear here if you kill the council members and find her on M4-78, so I may revisit this later.

I completely agree as there are some people who are an absolute artist when it comes to voice acting. Like Eris Morn from Destiny 2 during the shadowkeep campaign there's a part where she snaps and everybody was shocked on how much emotion she finally showed after all that time. There were people talking about that part for some time.

I was sure of that, until I played Planescape: Torment, which was made a few years earlier by the same lead dev. Kotor 2 is basically Planescape: Torment- Star Wars Edition. The similarities are uncanny. Kotor 2 is better in many respects, but I didn't shed any man tears for it. I did for PS:T. It has more meaningful choices than probably any other game, the setting is captivating (I was confused and unsure about it at first, but it really grew on me), and it has such an interesting and powerful story.

At least the best Star Wars content ever. I like the very philosophical approach of this game. However, I always was disappointed by the end. It was very rushed and left many plot holes, at least when it comes to the side characters. That it was - again, like in KotOR 1 - a mass slaughter feels uninspired for such a philosophical game. But at least we could say that Kreia is the most complex, interesting and best written character in all of Star Wars. And I really appreciate that at least 2 out of these 3 Sith aren't typical Sith. Darth Nihilus "just" wants to drain the life energy, he isn't interested in power for the sake of power as Sith normally are. And Traya isn't even a Sith, more a grey Jedi who wants to end the force itself.

Pretty sure it's that. (You can als check other videos on KZread for that, which btw have better quality too, if you wanna watch this scene in a better quality :P ) But that part with the companions has nothing to do with the Jedi's View as you say, so I'm still slighly confused on what you and the 52 likes mean.

The most interesting part of this game is, that Kreia were actually trying to fulfill the prophecy. Bring balance to the force, and peace into the galaxy. If she were successful. If she were destroyed the force. Then balance would came as both light, and dark side goes to zero. And peace, because jedi, and sith would both cease to exist. Without the force even the strongest of all sith, or jedi would be just a conventional mortal. They would no longer fight over ideas, and bring the galaxy with them. Causing countless death in the process. She were the chosen one. And she have failed.

A creature, that creates an aura around itself where the force does not exist. Also the lack of force according to Thrawn has no effect on those who aren't force users. He was exposed to a ysalamiri aura for extended period, and he felt nothing from it. Accoring to Kreia those who aren't dependent on the force would survive. Those who are wouldn't. That's the problem with the philosophical quagmire that Star Wars unintentionally created. When Lucas first created Star Wars, I'm fairly sure that he intended the Light and Dark sides of the Force to represent Good and Evil. Good and evil are not equal and opposite; Good is the right order of things, and Evil is a corruption. Bringing balance does not mean making the two sides equal, it means destroying the Dark. However, a lot of people saw the two sides as being more akin to Yin and Yang, Order and Chaos, equal and opposite forces, neither one inherently better than the other. This would be fine, if Star Wars was set up from the start to show that neither the Sith nor the Jedi were better than the other... but that's not what we see. The Jedi are flawed, certainly, but under their protection there is peace, while the Sith bring nothing but ruin. So, the philosophical quagmire that Star Wars accidently created is this: The Jedi are flawed, but obviously the good guys. The Sith are obviously the bad guys. And yet, the Light Side and the Dark Side are equal and opposites, neither one inherently better than the other, and bringing the implication that GOOD and EVIL are inherently equal, and that the Force traps the galaxy in a nightmarish cycle of horror and death as one side rises over the other and is cast down in turn. If the Light and Dark were purely represented as Good and Evil, that would be fine, you could create a philosophically consistent narrative out of that. If the Light and Dark were purely represented as Order and Chaos, that would also be fine. But as it is, the current view of the Force - Kreia's view - is a nightmarish amalgamation of the two philosophies that turns Star Wars from a heroic fairy tale into cosmic horror. Cosmic horror has its place, but frankly, that place isn't in Star Wars. Give me the swashbuckling heroics any day.

I won't add anything new by saying that this sequence is just sublime and that the performance of the actors is too. However, there is one moment that hasn't been mentioned in the comments and which, for me, is very touching when you think back to everything the Exile has been through so far: from 13:19 to 13:58. Personally, I think it shows that despite all that has been said and done that is sadly true, something better is possible for the Jedi Order and the galaxy. Through the words of his companions, we understand how much the fact of having met the Exile, of having followed him on his journey and of having been trained in the Jedi teachings by her/him has profoundly transformed them. To be able to go until the end, the Exile can count on them and even well after. It only lasts a few seconds but what is it that is magnificent. I hope the remake of KOTOR I will be successful and that it will encourage editors and producers to finally do justice to this marvel of video game.

I've played these games countless times. I enjoy the story and will always consider it canon to star wars as a whole. I haven't played with the mods yet but I love Kreia and her philosophy. The force was better off without the Jedi or sit. And I think that her actions in kotor2 were not only the right ones but necessary for the story later on. Kreia was the the only person that saw that the galaxy would be a better place if force users were gone. Let normal beings sort out their problems. Not have the problems expanded on by people with uncontrolled powers.

Kreia takes issue with the living force, rather than the dark side or light side which predate jedi and sith. it's less that the force was better off without them, in her mind at least, so much as that they were better off without the force. And also an abject rejection of the idea of predetermination and destiny.

The game has excellent dialogue, Great story telling, And lovable characters, But mine is the HK units. An example is HK 55 and HK 47, I even realized Dave Filoni loves this these good old KOTOR games too. Yeah he is kind of like the Exile with him being a wound in the force, only having become what the Exile would have become had he/she not cut herself off from the Force. Nihilus however has accomplished some astonishing feats The Exile and even most Sith haven't. Like becoming a presence of pure dark side energy without a real body, and achieving a form of immortality by figuring out how to foil death by fusing his spirit into his mask and robes. He lives on in his mask.

Oddly there are two responses to when you ask her what she saw. The first was "A man, nothing more." And the other was "I saw a graveyard world." Given how damned cryptic this game is, either there was a flesh vessel but which was lifeless, or he had no body but rather she's referring either to what he was before he became Nihilus, or to the spirit of a mere man that was enslaved to his own power. I guess it lets one reach their own conclusions.

  • @Alorand

I think you misunderstood. Malachor V is described as a wound for a reason, and shaped the people who were there. Nihilus is the empty wound, an amputation, a ghost limb, only apparent because of what used to be there but is now missing. Sion is the scab on the wound, a bone that is broken, regrows stronger than it was before, but must inevitably be broken again, because it has healed wrong. The Jedi Council is a severed nerve, the numbness that denies the pain, and tries to limp on. The Exile, is a scar, that allows you to remember the wound, and having felt the pain gain understanding from it.

Absolutely. KOTOR1, whilst a revolutionary game of its time, is a very black and white morality story. The main plot twist is good, but all of the decisions in the game are "cartoon evil" or "goody-two shoes to the max". KOTOR2 does a much better job of introducing grey morality and sparks much deeper philosophical questions not just about the universe, but about humanity in general. Kreia is simply an exceptional character.

She hates the force and hates how jedi and sith relies on it. She despises the jedi order because after all that happened in the game they're as arrogant as they were when they cast you out of the order. She wanted them to know what it is to let go off the force and show (them?) how weak they are by depending so much on it.
