So I'm genuinely curious about something: Biggest criticism I see of illmac is that his set-ups take too long. But i watch them, and it only be like 2 bars - with lines intertwined throughout. Is this because fans are so used to the 4 line punchstyle that all battle rappers copy nowadays?

Dammmmn, Chilla’s on my top five-six battlers to listen to But Ill’s breakdown of Chilla reading a Chinese food menu was an amazing opener and perfectly broke down the biggest downside to his style

Chilla Schemes and his opponent talks about how he schemes. The only difference ism Chilla schemes new topics while his opponent says the same thing his last opponent said.

I appreciated the freestyle element used by Ill to start off the battle with the Diz Vs. Hollow reference. From there the roasting session was real with that style breakdown from Ill. Good comedic touch. From Chilla, it was clear from jump he was authentically sick. His congestion could be heard in every bar. Glad he showed up and put on a show regardless. Seems like the, "13 reasons why," line was Chilla's biggest line of his first round, but to keep it a buck, I didn't get the reference. I asked a homie and he told me it was a reference to a documentary about suicide. The suicide angle kind of reminds me of how Pat approached Ill during their Title Match. To be fair though, other rappers have approached Chilla with the same, word association, style breakdown. Also, it seemed like there was somewhat of a time issue with Chilla's rounds. Bit of a coin toss, so I'll say draw after 1 round. Ill's 2nd round closer was fire. Loved the "Paid in Full" reference. I loved the comic book back and forth in the 2nd round from both rappers, although Chilla's was just a brief "Hulk" line. Didn't like Chilla's "Long nose, Gonzo" rhyme pattern. It reminds me of bars I'm sure I've heard before in a battle against Cuastic. At the end of the day, I think Chilla Jones is witty, but Illmaculate is a wordsmith. I'll edge this to Ill by the slightest. Looking forward to the Illmac Vs. Iron battle.

Classic battle. Both were fire. I don’t have any respect for heads out here calling clear 30s when every round was so close. I think a lot of people on both sides slept on so many bars because I could hardly contain myself each round. Salute to you for your honest breakdown. “13 reasons why” isn’t a documentary but a Netflix original drama series about a high-school girl that committed suicide and it was a very big deal when it was released because it addressed the American topical issue of bullying. I thought it was good but I’ve heard a better scheme from somebody else that used it recently but can’t recall who off the top. Like every Dragonball Z bar does to me because I was too old for that anime, it will simply sound like filler without the context. I think Ill’s wordplay is stronger because he can do it outside of schemes whereas Chilla is limited in that arena. That being said, I don’t think Ill’s angle paid off for him because when he mimicked Chilla’s style it only demonstrated that he couldn’t do it as well. The point is to be able to do it better than your opponent can or at the very least, as good. You can’t just do it. Worse yet, if you don’t prove you can do it as well then that’s the equivalent of a basketball player saying Jordan’s fade-away shot is not all that and then misses when he demonstrates. To me, this is why Hollow’s angle on Charlie was so effective because he didn’t just prove that he could do it but that the crowd could think of those rhymes too. I think Chilla needs to broaden his skillset outside of schemes or he’ll be stuck at his level which being stuck at top tier isn’t that bad. But I could never see Chilla trying to step to Hollow or Lux on that god tier. I could see Ill doing that sooner than Chilla and I’m glad he’s grown past his ego days. All that said, I gave the slight edge to Chilla in the first, slight edge to Ill in the second and depending on your preferences you can award the third. I wouldn’t be mad either way because it was fire on both sides. However, I’d make the argument for Chilla because I can see him dismantling a Twork or some of the new class whereas Ill will struggle. The evolution of the culture is a real thing that many battlers don’t take serious. Just ask Mad Illz. It happened to Iron Soloman when he stepped to Mook and he learned his lesson because he adapted after that. Also, Chilla prepared his defenses amazingly well for Ill's angle. Chilla 2-1. I’m also looking forward to that Ill vs Iron battle.

Round 3 was more of the same, Illmac's Flow is Incredible, he straight barred 'n' schemed Chilla Jones tah death. I think Chilla would've put up more of a fight! if he wasn't sick. Anyway, I awarded Illmaculate the Final Round since he was straight spitt'n', neva lett'n' his foot off the gas pedal! . . . therefore, the Final Score is 2 - 1 (Illmaculate over Chilla Jones), Gerard.
