Koshien Summer High School Baseball Japan. It's big!

Ғылым және технология

Hi guys, I've been living in Japan for over 4 years now and I'm not a big fan of baseball. I don't even know the rules! Hahaha!
So, many of the people I know were talking about it and it first stroke me when I found out that the high school tournament kicks out a professional team from the home stadium. Viewership is crazy and everybody is passionate about their hometown's school. I've never experienced such passion for a non-professional sport before. Let alone high school level.
I thought, this is more than just a sport. This is a unique cultural part of Japan and more people should know. Anyway, there are many more videos, so if you want to check out more about the Koshien, just surf around.
Cheers!

We Japanese love these high school baseball game. I think it is because we feel something very pure about these games. All for one and one for all. They dedicate so much of their high school life to baseball. Friendship, Discipline, Teamwork, Respect, Self-sacrifice. We can feel so many things about these games which we tend to lose or forget as we grow up. It is good for me to watch these games and remember when I was dedicating myself to something so precious for me and try not to forget or lose it. Sry for my English.

Tatsuya Shimizu, who appears at 3:05, is currently a pitcher for Chunichi Dragons of NPB. His name "Tatsuya" was named after the main character "Tatsuya" in Mitsuru Adachi's manga "Touch". What the two Tatsuya's have in common 1. his name is Tatsuya. 2. he was a pitcher and was given the uniform number 1. 3. he won the summer Koshien Championship in his third year of high school.

Win or lose, they all just super happy to have made it there. Comes down to: to be or not to be. And they became "to be" due to their hard work and dedication. That's the inspiring story of making it to participate at Koshien. Remember we are talking about young children of high school age, not about professionals with experience.

It's kind of a shame how little overlap there is between Japanese and American baseball. Like the WBC is the only competition of note and it's not that prestigious given how many MLB players sit out. Like having the NPB and MLB champions play a 7 game series or having an international high school tournament would be awesome. There's certainly an appetite for that.

Most popular ticket will be quarter semifinals or semifinals or final. Other than that, it wouldn't be so difficult to get ticket. But seats in the shade will be tougher to get. In some case, if there is the very much talented player, the ticket for the game he play would be tougher to get either. If you go there, you will find that those school bands and cheers are also remarkable. Hoping you would be there someday.

High school baseball players play baseball as hard as they can to win the championship. The students who cheer for them also cheer hard, hoping for the victory. The tears that the players shed when they lose a close game are very moving. PS: More interesting than Japanese professional baseball. The reason is that high school ball players play very hard. 公式のウェブサイトでもでも本拠地は「兵庫県西宮市」としか書いてないよ(m.hanshintigers.jp/corporate.html)。

That's the location of the stadium but everyone in Osaka considers it to be their team, and baseball fans all over Japan associate the Tigers with Osaka, or the Osaka region known as Kansai.

Dang i really didnt know average throwing speed was around 80 in japan, i wish i was going to schools in japan because in america, even the slowest seniors pitcher we have at our schools is 85-88 mph and the fastest we have is 94-96 mph, seniors as well.

Ohtani was already throwing 99mph in high school but he didn't make it to this summer tournament in his senior year. Pitchers aren't all about throwing fast balls. And they do have pitchers that throw 94-96 mph. There is a kid that throws 101 mph now. www.reddit.com/r/baseball/comments/ba475t/r%C5%8Dki_sasaki_a_high_school_pitcher_from_the_same/

If you look closer to catcher he wears traditional catcher's mask. By the rule, no brand mark allowed in helmet, jersey, catcher's mask, etc. So American high school baseball mask is not eligible in there due to none of masks meets regulations. Of course, Koshien catcher's masks are banned in America.

We want to refuse Korean high schools forever because they will probably bribe the referees or bump them on purpose. Perhaps they could sit on the ground and cry all night, disrupting the competition.
