Korone and the "Crappy Game Where the Hero is a Massive Scumbag" [Eng Sub/Hololive]
Ойындар
Are you an upstanding person who has never disappointed your parents, your peers, or your friends? Whether you answered "yes" or "no", be prepared to have Korone constantly disappointed in you for 20+ minutes, as Korone casts YOU as the hero of this "crappy game".
I once again fried my brain translating this game, and I also apologize if the timing on the game translation feels off. I couldn't decide whether to time it to the game text, or to time it to when Korone reads the lines. Also, I hope the parts where she misreads kanji is relatively understandable. The parenthesis indicate what the word is supposed to be.
TL;DR Sorry

A 20 minute translation? You're too kind.
Good grief, I don't begrudge Korone *OR* you for trouble translating some of these words. Japanese uses like what, three separate alphabets? One of which is heavily context-dependent? You're an absolute legend for bothering to give us this weighty chunk of Korone!
@Krawurxus
3 жыл бұрын
It's not so much the fact that there's three sets of characters, it's that this game for some reason uses some obscure ones that you don't see often (or at all nowadays). Most Japanese only know and need around half the kanji that are approved for general use give or take, and with modern word processing basically doing the thinking for you it's even less now than 25 years ago. Could be this game was simply made by someone who reads a lot more than Korone and so knows more characters from heart.
@justmutantjed

@MasterAsra
3 жыл бұрын
It's probably better to think of most kanji as more like words themselves than just another alphabet sometimes. Like even English speakers will run into complicated words they don't know the meaning of. Though it's a little worse in Japanese since you can't tell how a kanji is pronounced either(in games, some words will have the pronunciation above or below it in hiragana)
@1000drman
3 жыл бұрын
Also you say this like English is any better
@Asrashas
3 жыл бұрын
@@1000drman I mean, in english you can at least go and ask someone "what does xyz mean?", since you can read it. You may not prounounce it correctly, but it should more often than not be enough for the other person to understand. You can read, and at least approximately pronounce a word that you don't know. This is completely different in Japanese. If you don't know a kanji, you can't go and ask someone "what does xyz mean?", since you have no idea how it's even pronounced. You'd have to write the kanji you don't know to ask somebody about it. Though as Asra said, sometimes you have furigana that help with pronounciation. But not always.
@1000drman
3 жыл бұрын
@@Asrashas You can't really say that too easily if you aren't native to English and talk with a language like japanese natively where they don't have xyz
@Asrashas
3 жыл бұрын
@@1000drman Well yeah. But I'm not talking about English from a non-proficient perspective. I'm talking about English from a proficient perspective, versus Japanese from a proficient perspective. If confronted with a word they don't know in their respective language, the English person can at least take a guess to the pronunciation, and be usually understandable, I think. While the Japanese person can ... simply not. Even a person proficient in both languages will have the same problem. He can guess pronunciations of unknown words in English, but not of unknown kanji. Saying that English is more difficult for non-native speakers than it is for native ones is .. well, obvious. That is true for every language, including japanese. That's not an argument in any direction, imo. Also I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "where they don't have xyz". xyz in my text was just meant as a placeholder for an unknown word in the respective language. So an unknown English word for the English person, and an unknown Japanese word for the Japanese person.
This is not a listener-san, ITS AN ANTI DISGUISED AS ONE! TAKE HIM TO THE USUAL ROOM

A lot of the kanji that Korone's struggling with are really uncommon It'd be like if someone made a game in English and you randomly came across the word "variegated" or "histrionic". It's not impossible that someone could use them but the odds of them coming up in conversation are so low...
