So, you grow up, you look back, and you realize the intense importance why music was there that you had no idea why you loved it or needed it. I was a suburban 13 year old kid who dealt with pretty severe house hold abuse growing up and we constantly pretended to be this shining beacon on happy catholic family. When the doors were closed there was abuse far beyond even what this video depicts. I know there are a lot of haters for this particular genre of music, I think the great divide is that this music is aimed at an audience who relates heavily to the source material. Like it our not, the fact that there was a band out there that described how I felt inside of my own head was life saving. This may not be the most positive band in the world but they let the lost and hurt know that they are not alone. And knowing your not alone is a huge step in moving forward with your life. Really just realized I'm grateful Korn put it out there the way they did. So thanks Korn.

Every time I listen to Korn I cry a little bit while feeling an adrenaline rush into my body, all those feelings I had back in my childhood come back to remind me how far I am from that, people heard the word suicide in a song and thought they were the cause of people ending themselves without knowing that many times, these songs, saved many of us from some very dark days. I was not abused by my parents but I suffered severe bullying at school for years, and screaming to this lyrics in my room or listening to them on my headphones to scape reality for a minute got me through all of that. I was going through this when this song came out. After a very abusive upbringing, I got into an abusive relationship. This song spoke to me in a deep way. It helped me to actually focus my immense rage into fuel. I left. Took our boys and bought a new house, moved up in my job and they are happy, well adjusted men. Not going to lie, I still have a hidden place with a lot of rage...Then I listen to songs like this and rock out, it makes me feel better. Love to every survivor of any abuse.

How could anyone who takes music seriously say that Fieldy's bass tone is bad? That percussive tone is so perfect in the context of Korn's music and it's so rare to hear a bass guitar punching through like this in a metal mix.

20 years ago I was 11 years old and homeless. My mom and I fled from my abusive father and were squatting in a studio apartment with my aunt. One day I was visiting my grandmother and watching MTV. This video came on and after a minute, my grandmother said "Honey, I can't watch this". She told me the child abuse depicted in this video reminded her too much of the abuse she endured as a foster child. "I used to get beaten like that with a belt. I can't look at this". We changed the channel. I was obsessed with Korn as a kid and Issues came out as my family fell apart. In that moment though, 11 year old me realized how child abuse stays with you for life. Jonathan Davis, I'm fairly sure, knows this too. My grandmother died in 2009, but I still think of her when I watch this. I'm now a legal assistant and have made something of my life despite the hell I lived through. I hope she'd be proud of me.

My older brother committed suicide yesterday, at age 31. as a teen he loved Korn, Linkin Park, Pantera, etc. I would sit in his room listening to him jam out on guitar for hours. Simpler times. We didn't have a great life at home but he was always there for me and made things better, he was a good influence on me. I'll never know why he did it but listening to these songs helps me get through it a little bit. In the past 6 months I've been on meth and heroin, and I just wasn't there for my family when I should have, maybe I could've done something to help him. We didn't get to celebrate thanksgiving with him, say goodbye, or have one last jam together, it's like he just disappeared.

I was in primary school with my brother who was 3 years younger than me..I will never forget the day my mum fell over when walking us to school. She told us to leave her and walk the rest of the way because she said she would be fine. That day, another family member came to pick us up from school, not our mum. Later on that night, our dad who returned from work grabbed us from our grandparents place and drove to the hospital where our mum ended up going after her fall (we had no idea). It was late at night and remember so vividly leaving the hospital with my brother and asking "Dad, where is mum? Isn't she coming home with us?", he replies "No, mum is staying at the hospital tonight". My brother and I balled our eyes out so hard that I remember struggling to breath. This was the start of my brother and I traveling back and fourth from our grandparents place every week while dad worked full time in the city and mum was in hospital for a long period of time. This was also the continuation and manifestation of our dad being abusive. Abusive to my brother and I. Abusive to my mother and her family. He was always an abusive psycho but got worse after my mum's injury. My brother and I used to sleep in my aunties small bedroom on the floor mattress. She was a teen and had all these band posters covering her walls and door. Marylin manson, Blink182, Limp Bizkit and many others. Most memorable was the huge Korn poster she had on the back of her door (the one with them on 2 bikes and 2 dogs). She would blast Korn all day long and play their music videos. Like my aunty, a few of my uncles listened to them too. Korn ended being a huge part of my childhood which I grew up liking and listening to their music in my own time. Our dad continued to abuse us years later. When I got to my teens, I was extremely emo and suicidal. High school was a nightmare because I couldn't focus on anything. I had to be a carer for my paraplegic bed bound mum at home, do all the house chores and look after my little brother (who was a little shit at the time) all the while being abused by my father. I fucking hated my life. I was terrified of my father. I rebelled against everything that I was told to do because all I wanted was a normal life at home and school but couldn't have that. No one at school could understand what I was going through. I felt alone. My mum was an angel btw. The sweetest person you could ever meet. She had nurses coming to the house in the mornings to help her shower etc........our monster of a father started to resent the nurses and didn't want their help anymore (for whatever fucked up reason). He was manipulative and abusive towards my mum daily. Trying to brainwash her into pushing her only family away and denying any help from the government. Life at home was hell. I remember when I would lock myself in my dark room, cry and scream into my pillow and would think about cutting myself. I was always too pussy to cut so instead I would pierce my arm with needles. It wasn't as bloody but it gave me the feeling of pain, some kind of relieving pain. Whenever I thought about ending it all, I would listen to a Korn CD my uncle bought me. Korn was my outlet. My friends. The friends that were there for me at my darkest moments. They made me feel...not so alone. They were an outlet for me when I felt so angry. They were there for me when no one else was because nobody understood. It's been about 11 years since I moved out of home to get away from the abusive psycho and Korn is still a huge part of my life. They're not just my favorite band but I see them as my angels who saved my life. I listen to them when I feel sad, I listen to them when I feel angry, I listen to them when I wanna rock out, I listen to them when I'm getting ready and wanna feel bad ass. They're my feel good music. I love them so much and want to thank them from the bottom of my heart and soul for being there. For being there for me when I needed someone most. Thank you Korn. You saved my life.

But if he hadn't experienced the pain that he had he wouldn't have been able to reach out to so many people and save so many lives through his genius and talent. Everything happens for a reason and his pain was necessary for his talent to reach and touch so many people. I'm thankful for the music I listen to when I was young otherwise I don't think I would have made it out alive and it looks like many of you feel the same way while the whole time we thought we were alone in our pain.

I'm 50 years old. My sister committed suicide 5 years ago via heroin. It's amazing I'm still alive from my past (parental abuse, molestation, bullying, etc). Tonight I'm having "one of my nights." Thankfully I don't own a gun when these times hit. All this is a result of my parents' abuse and choice to not care what happened to Deb and I. At 50 years old it still has scars that "scream" sometimes. Korn is easily one of my favorite bands because their music so embodies / voices many of the feelings I still have, even today. Childhood abuse, from parents, parent's friends, and peers, is for life. It never leaves. Thanks Jonathan and team for making music that can at least express what I feel sometimes.

Abandoned as a child by both parents. - Abused and severely neglected by someone who was put in a place of power over me. - Suffered over a decade with PTSD, anxiety and depression. - Fell into heavy addiction, followed by multiple overdoses and hitting rock bottom. - While at rock bottom found out I was going to be a dad. - Straightened out within months, and pulled my whole life back together. - Was able to be there, clean and sober to see my daughter be born, and it felt like my struggles ended when I saw her little face. I don’t know how to explain, but I was able to change so that my child (now I have three) didn’t have to go through hell like me. My now wife chuckles when I cry at things our kids do, but seeing their beautiful smiles and how happy they are makes me so emotional and happy that they don’t suffer like I did. Being a dad saved my life, and a child should never have to wonder whether they’re loved, mine certainly don’t have to wonder.

i was physically and mentally abused by my mother as a child. she would kick me on the ground , beat me and tell terrible things to me. i was 9 when this video came out, they were divorced finally, i stayed with my dad and he would always turn off the tv when this came on, because of the graphic content, yet i just wanted to watch it and listen to it because it was somehow helping me altho i didn't quite understand at that age why exactly. i would just tell him that the "boys are helping the girl escape from the bad man and she will stay with her friends now!" but as i was growing it made all the sense. korn is helping all of us escape the bad shit in our head/lifes. it's one of my favourite songs from them. i'm 28 and to this day i still can't stand when someone yells at me or even slightly raises their voice , because i get a panick attack and i have to cover my ears. louder steps trigger me too because there is an instant fear of something bad happening to me. depression and anxiety are on and off.. i guess it's all the unsolved shit inside me. but to get to the point: i tear up every now and then because i just am so grateful for korn, for growing up with them, they helped me through the toughest periods of my life and their music just simply understands so fucking much. it makes us who are lost at life feel more at ease and acknowledged. i hope they know how many lives they helped and saved through their music. certainly mine. i wish i could return what they did for me. forever thankful. ❤ to everyone who went through shit, stay strong, stay alive. you're stronger than all that happened.

Reading this gave me goosebumbs. Sadly not in a good way cuz I might understand some of your points. I've not been hit so insense as you have been, but I endured 18 years of mental abuse. Thoughts of suicide since I was 13. I knew I was different, I didn't feel the way others did and I felt wrong. And I started hating myself especially when I imagined killing my mum for more than a year, every single time I saw a knife or a pan or a toxic plant (#Getdownwiththesickness #YouStupidSadisticAbusiveF***ingWh***NeverStickYourHandInMyFaceAgainB****). And I still deal with some disorders, addiction and depressive phases. @sunny: We haven't fallen away from ourselves, my dear. We've been beaten away from ourselves.

I was not physically abused (by my parents) as a child, but my sisters were. My sisters and I were mentally abused by my parents thinking that being beat down was a form to show love but it was just manipulation tactic to fear them as parents. I remeber when my mom used to get angry, she was a completely different person, treating us like shite, saying the most insane curses, like we were nothing to her and until this very day I'm still afraid of my mom and the worst thing is that she acts like it was nothing. It's hard to have trust with your parents especially when they treat their own children like animals. I became very reclusive, shy, alone, they over protection of my parents but still being abused for being myself. My parents don't know a lot of me and they won't know anything. I have depression , anxiety, sexually abused, I've been suicidal all my life and tried to unalive myself three times but I know they don't care. Thank you, Korn for being there with me when I don't have the will to continue.

Korn is so weird. There has never been anything like them and never will be. I don’t even know what genre their music is. With that being said, I do love them.

When this song released I was living in an abusive home. KoRn helped me deal with that a lot. Knowing I wasn't alone probably saved me from a mentally dark place. I would just get lost in the music and listened to it on repeat almost everyday.

Tho I was not a victim of abuse, I absolutely feel the pain behind the lyrics and the people who identifiy with it. To create such strong music it's legendary. This band is legendary such as it's songs. Still, listening Korn every single day of my life makes me a bit more happy considering the twisted reality we are forced to live.

I love that this song speaks to so many different people all of us going through similar things. My parents were constantly separating and getting back together. The classic “wanna stay cause of the kids” thing. My younger sister was the golden child who could do no wrong. I was older, and even tho I did nothing but stay in my room I was the devil to them. It was so bad I didn’t even know it was abuse, I just knew I hated it and something was wrong. A friend of mine suggested some music to me, knowing how much music means to me. This song was one of them. It spoke to me at my core and I still cry almost 14 years later. That guy btw became my bf and got me out of the abusive household and we’ve been together 11 years. Thanks Korn. You helped me stay sane. Edit: I got to see them live on 3/11. It changed my life. I was 10 feet from them. Best night of my life so far.
