I have owned PA 1000 It’s the most amazing board ever and these are just stock sounds The editing feature to a sound and styles is amazing. You will get studio quality sound in recordings For a live setup the mixer comes in handy as well. The factory sounds that come out of box are altered for the inbuilt speaker

Both keyboards are very good, Yamaha has always placed itself for ease of use, Korg is also trying to excel in that way with this model especially with the touch screen and registrations, But yamaha's warmth, booming bass, multipad and quick navigation functions makes it a choice over the the sound clarity and keyboard stage appearance of Korg. Bonners presenter Tony has very good hands on perfection on any of his presentation.

Excuse me but Yamaha is complicated. While Korg got Easy Mode. And the difference between keys is too clear. Yamaha's 4000$ keyboard got the same keys as 200$ while in Korg all the keyboards got the best keys. You can try performing on a Pa4x and compare them keys with a Genos.

I think this way: Yamaha, turned to keyboard solo performance, very well-programmed and produced stilos. Korg: Not so realistic styles, however, the instruments factory preserves the nuances and realistic timbres of Real musical instruments, more processing power and programming power for advanced users. both are excellent in your specific niche. Note: I have one s970 and one pa 900

I own the older Yamaha PSR & the Korg 1000 & there are elements of each that are outstanding but its a question of what gets the job done for you. I enjoy both and find that there are styles on each that are a cut above the other one. I'm stuck on the Yamaha piano sounds but the Korg Hammond sounds seem better to me. In this case BEAUTY IS IN THE EARS OF THE BEHOLDER. So happy I have both but at this point I didn't think the 975 has much over their previous PSR's so I'm not ready to upgrade that one yet. I've got some sampled theater organ sounds in the Korg but I'm truly amazed that the Korg can convert a MIDI song into a style. Not everyone converts well, but those that do are outstanding. Best advice is to go to your local music store and play both & then you'll know for sure [or not !!!]

Drums and bass are crucial in live playing and they are more compact and natural in Korg....while Yamaha is great in-studio sounds for me, and has some gorgeous sounds like strings, saxophones, trumpets cs. ...and a few local musical instruments from my country (like gamelan).

Excellent comparison, although sometimes I felt that the EQ and volume may have been doped a bit. There were times in the comparison that the Korg sounded this and way below the volume of the Yamaha. I would not say the sounds are better or worse between keyboards, but maybe EQ'd a bit differently, among the settings. The sounds from either keyboard can be tweaked to have a very similar voice, timbre, and quality. Neither Korg or Yamaha, among the top players in keyboards and synthesis skimp on the quality sounds, whether synthesized or sampled. With that said, it is a tough choice to make, if you can only afford one or the other! That's my dilemma right now, plus limited desk space.

Friends ,if you are doing solo performance in stage ,rhythm is the most important thing, Yamaha has the beautiful rhythms and high in equalizer settings..Rhythm is the most important thing ,Yamaha has good rhythms and expansion memory. So choosing Yamaha keyboard is better than korg. In korg korg pa 4 x and kronos is only good items. If you are choosing keyboard for solo stage performance with middle price rate and expansion memory ,, psr s 970 is better. Hear its rhythms , imagine like that you playing with this beautiful rhythms on stage..you can give an imaginable feeling like dance,movie,emotional.... to the audience....thanks for reading my comment..

Oh one more thing. The cspacity of 256mb of korg is very wide to load many sets. While Yamaha's 450mb is just to load a bit of beats and sounds. While on korg you can load the whole Yamaha and work... bla bla bla im tired of explaining.

I came in on the verge of buying the Korg PA1000, but after hearing the two together, it sounds to me as though the Yamaha PSR-S975 has more of a presence about it and, frankly, I prefer the arrangements on the Yamaha in most respects. Surprise! The only other thing you might have gotten into (and I still don't know the answer) is whether the Yamaha has the same ability to harmonize voices that exists with the PA1000. If it does, while the PA1000 is a great instrument, then I think Yamaha wins the race hands down. Nice examples you used, by the way! Thanks; very helpful.

There are good and "bad" instruments in both of them. The clever move is to buy PA700 + Psr S775 (and connect them through midi) instead of having to choose between PA1000 and S975. That way, for about the same amount of money, you get the best of the two worlds ! (There are a few extra features on PA1000 and S975 but the sound is about the same as on PA700 and S775)

Hi , Surprising that the Yamaha has more elegant sound in the style mode. Difficult to compare because Korg has many hidden features example, you can change the style or drum chords to match your right hand melody ,meaning most keyboards are set on the scale of " C ". Korg has tuning in the settings to fine tune the pitch of style and drums , example , if you are playing base chord " G " with the right hand part , then you can fine tune the drum beat to " G ". It also has 4 fill-in buttons to change the variation in the style mode, very important whilst singing in one man band performance. For performances , I would prefer the Korg pa 1000. The difference in price range is not much , Korg being a little higher. I would go for the Korg pa 1000. I am a Roland fan. I have a Roland E09 IN (Indian edition) , which also has all the western styles and voices and a 76 key Yamaha DGX 230 (not an entry level keyboard ). Something special about the Roland E09's is the bass and bass changes in style mode , it sounds great. It's also evident the player's talent is very important and if a person is a good performer , then he or she can make any instrument sound great.

what was she doing? she evacuated ?Yamaha is like a reheated chop. Basically nothing happened until the sx900 model, although also in this case there is not much progress. I had all these models from the psr series and it was no different, it was only buying the Korg Pa 1000 that made me smile. korg listens to its users at all before it releases its next model. it has been so this time since the pa5x appeared on the market. yamaha with her Genos has now been left behind.

A good demonstration of styles. BUT...both of these machines are not just about live playing of styles and a few voices. To get to the heart of them you need to set up individual sounds and multi-track record them. That's what these devices do best. Playing styles and voices live is always going to sound frankly like lift music. The Yamaha has very fine control over attack/release/filter/volume/expression on the super articulation voices and no doubt Korg has the equivalent. You really cannot judge two very sophisticated devices on a quick run through of out-of-the-box voices. Both instruments have infinitely more nuanced control than demonstrated here, though I appreciate that a retailer doesn't have the time to do it. At this level of sophistication it is the musicianship of the player that counts MUCH more than the machine. Both these instruments are very good. My preference is for the Yamaha because I am used to them, but I think the Korg has just as good sounds in some areas. The piano on the Yamaha is extremely disappointing even compare to their cheapest digital pianos.

I have performed & been well compensated for over 3800 nights playing to larger crowds. The Yamaha sounds dreamy like an older style home Organ. Maybe good for playing nursing homes and eating establishments where they're there to only listen while they're having dinner. The Korg sounds more like a live band that would move the crowd to dance. You only need a certain number of sounds to perform live, both are overkill. Like someone said earlier the arranger sounds are not as thick as a non- arranger.

I know you're a good pianist and I hear unexpected nuances when you play the Yamaha which I don't hear when you play the Korg. As if you don't have as much control on the velocity when you play the Yamaha. Especially hearable on the song at around 3:30. I do, however, get the feeling that you prefer the Yamaha.

If we are not talking about sounds, but about ergonomics, then at the Korg the keyboard almost does not bend down when the fingers are in the center. In Yamaha, with an intensive play on the keys, a rather noticeable deflection of the keyboard block. This is very strange, since the tool is positioned as a serious workstation.

As an overall package Yamaha is the best. Korg is not bad but have a lot to to improve in the style department. Just listen carefully at 4.18 when Tony switches to variation 3 on the Korg. It just creates a jerk. Listen at 4.34 when the Ending is pressed. Very poor programming. This issue has been there with all Korg arrangers and has never been addressed. In the Editing department Korg is really good while Yamaha still lives in the stone age. Yamaha brings in all the nuances and articulations to the sounds and rest of the companies follow :-)....Korg has never got the Piano sound right even in the Kronos. Feels so artificial. Thanks to Tony for the comparison.

Korg Kronos piano's are awesome! I grew tired of Yamaha's piano sounds except for the DX 7 ep's. Plus Yamaha used old tech. AWM I should know because I used to work for Yamaha. Not even the Montage can compete with the Kronos. The last workstation of Yamaha was the motif xf. Peace out! P.S. you just need to learn how to edit your piano sounds. To suit your taste. Peace out!

Hard choice for me, I've been always using Yamaha. If I decide to buy Korg I must change everything completely, all I've got used to with Yamaha and the software to work with... but hard as it is: Korg sounds better to me, except for the distorted guitar, this one is better on Yamaha. As this is an important voice for me it makes my choice even harder... well, Korg's 'Strat Overdrive Guitar' sounds ok, too, but not as great as Yamaha's 'Rock Guitar Hero' sound... could there be other distorted guitar voices on Korg, that sound better? Yamaha mostly has an overdriven and a distortion guitar sound... does Korg also feature them both? What I also need to state: I really thought there's something wrong with the violin sound on Yamaha! I'm sorry, but it's horrible! Am I the only one to think so? First I thought it's an overdriven guitar sound, too 😂. Korg's violin sounds much more natural... and there are two more things: As far as I know Korg PA1000 features aftertouch, Yamaha PSR-S975 doesn't, or am I wrong? And I also think Korg's joystick is an advantage over the separated wheels for pitch and modulation control on Yamaha.

I don't know. At first I found the Yamaha sound a bit muddy, sounds not so clearly distinguished. On the other hand it stands out, but probably because it uses a lot a compression...

Yamaha can never beat Korg in functionality, and Korg can never beat Yamaha in user friendly and huge online support, vast styles collection etc. In Korg you have to load style inside the instrument to play it, while in Yamaha, just put 1000 of styles in usb and play directly. The synth patches in Korg are awesome professional, in Yamaha they are few and not impressive.

I agree to all the comments. Both are really interesting keyboard workstations. The clarity of sound is good in yamaha when compared to that of pa1000. These two keyboards are two extremes. U cannot say anything untill and unless u use them on a program. In the case of yamaha its more user friendly than pa1000. As both the keyboards provide factory sounds and styles, a professional artist will have to work on with tones and rythms to make to perfection. If u have listened to the sounds carefully u must hav noticed thst most of the tones in yamaha just sound realistic than pa1000. Both the keyboards gives a decent output, but sounds do vary. Yamaha gives a crisp and clarity output as its high frequency is a bit high. On the other hand korg gives a bold and base frequency for its styles, and it sounds good in base. So its ur personal opinion to chosse the best. Best thing to do is to play both of them and select the best. Thank u

Hi Tony, I listened very intently to these, in fact, going back and listening a second time to make sure of what I was hearing. The sound was, for the most part, very satisfying on both keyboards. Though, from my own personal perspective, as the styles were being played, I think that they were a bit fuller, and richer on the Yamaha-even if they we the old standbys that Yamaha has used for years. As for sounds, they're both very similar. However, the violin you used on the Yamaha is an extremely good rendition of a concert violin (similar to a Stradivarius) while the one used on the Korg sounded like a fiddle. You didn't seem inclined to use, or demonstrate any of the unique features of either keyboard. Even so, both sounded very good. I like the color scheme on the Korg, but hate the shape of the speaker covers. The white keys on the Yamaha would pick up grease and dirt from fingertips (I'm very familiar with this problem). I am particularly interested in how well implemented the touch screen is on the Korg. If anyone's interested, I play A PSR S770 and just love it. I know of an acquaintance of mine who recently bought an S775, and returned it because he couldn't get it to compose the style tracks the way he wanted to (he didn't wait for me to get back to him with the fact that they need to be done in a "Cmaj" scale). I wish him well, even though he went to a Korg PA700. Overall though, with the many thousands of styles and instruments available via USB, downloading from Yamaha, and a thousand other sites, and the unique features on both keyboards, (like the touch screen and dark colored keys on the Korg). It also looks like the buttons are a bit larger on the Yamaha. Unique features can be easily accessed on the Yamaha(just take the time to walk through the menus). I'm still sold on the Yamaha though I did enjoy the comparisons that were shown. Thanks again Tony.

Talvez seja a configuração do meu celular que nao ta dando pra ver direito.. mas na execução do ending (finalização), ele aperta o ending 1 do korg pra finalizar na hora e o ending 2 ou 3 do yamaha.. porque será? Essa é minha duvida..

Both of them have their own advantages whet it comes to sound, but Yamaha is still very unflexible with mapping. It´s not possible to do free arranges, I only can use the split points and a layer, but no free mapping of the sounds. In addition to that, KORG has a deeper editing section

Korg sounds punchy but not overloaded. Yahama sounds are silky and good. I played with Yamaha for years. Now i'm convinced of Korg. Unfortunaly Korg curtails the variety of functions and possibles.
