First raw jam with the Hacktribe!
So far I really like the ability to sample and use my own sample on the E2, and the added oscillators and features is super cool.
I do feel that it became a bit more slower, and seems like the DSP maybe can't handle all that power (The machine is a bit lagging, and I hear glitches here and there when I try to move really fast with it).
But overall this hack is brilliant and makes me feel even more excited about the tribe now that I can use my own samples instead of the factory drums that started to sound to boring and outdates :)

First raw jam with the Hacktribe! The ability to use my own samples without loosing all the oscillators and filters is awesome (there are actually more oscillators now!)! The Electribe do feel a bit slower now though, but still worth the extra features :)

installed it to mine E2, and liking it so far. that’s what i always wanted E2 to be - modeled oscillators/filters + user (mine) samples. also, extra IFX, especially distortions, are really good. and scales! all my favorite scales are here - phrygian dominant, neapolitan minor/major, and a couple of others.

The difference between e2 and e2s is also genre related. E2 is for EDM and e2s is more hip hop based. If there would be no hacktribe, I would definitely go with e2. But how does the hacktribe version sounds on e2s? Is it more EDM orientated or I should stick with E2 and hacktribe it? I'm into EBM, post industrial genres.

Umm not sure if I agree about the genre specific.. IMO both with or without the Hackritbe can be used for many genres
So what does this do to the sampler version?

If I'm not wrong it adds the extra oscillators and filters available only on the synth version
I'd like to try the hack but would I lose the songs.sample I've already made?

You would not lose the songs, but they will not sound the same since it will remove all the samples and change the oscillators. so better to backup first
Do you think it might differ somehow whether applied to the Synth or to the Sampler, also in terms of bricking risk? And what about DSC performances?

I don't have the sampler to test and compare, so I can't tell you for sure but there might be some minor differences. There is a bricking risk for sure, there is a way to fix it but I understand that it can be complicated. What do you mean by DSC? I do feel that the overall performance is not so good as previously, specially when I move fast with the knobs and settings, it start to stutter a bit. So just need to be cautious about it

In terms of DSP I actually feel that hack is taking more resources and the unit response slower to be honest..

@@RandomNoiseMusic Having chatted with the dev of Hacktribe, I think the interface could be slower due to the mods, but there should be no difference in the DSP performance, as he is not yet able to actually make any changes to the DSP processors firmware.
You turned it into an E2sampler ... Nice good

@@RandomNoiseMusic Do a tutorial on how to install the firmware hack so when I get that too I'm good to go. Doing hardtekno I need a lot of kicks for this I got Electribe 2 sampler however so this is worth taking too Cheers from italy

@@RandomNoiseMusic So, when applying this hack to synth version does it lose anything, oscillators or any other features or it's truly a combination of sampler + synth versions? I can't figure this out and I'm afraid to apply this to my E2 synth.

You only lose the factory samples (not the oscillators), but there are way to get them back if you really want to. You actually get more oscillators with this hack! Its not really more oscillators, but more variations of the existing ones. If I recommend it or not its a hard question. I will tell you instead why I've decided to do that and you can decide for yourself if that is reasonable for you. I had the Electribe for more than a year now, and as much as I love it, I really got bored of the drum sounds, and really wanted to use my own samples. So I've decided to go for it and give it a try. It turns out to be ok, although I do experience that the Electribe is a bit slower now than before. I guess there is more usage of the DSP. But so far I am happy with that I can say. I followed this guy instructions, which worked exactly like he described it there if you are interested: kzread.info/dash/bejne/qmqVzpp6h8fKeco.html @Miky 7900, I don't plan to do a tutorial for that because I don't feel comfortable with my knowledge to tell people how to do that, and then if there is a problem I would not know how to help them. Nood question, but those drum sounds are samples you loaded into the electribe 2 with this hack? I have my tribe for many years now and i like it a lot but like you mentioned the factory samples are getting old. Its the first time i encountered this hacktribe ( kinda late i know). So what i understand is that when loading this hack u basically turn it into a sampler ? Thanks

Hey, yes but it is not just turning it to the sampler version, it keeps the synth engine and add on that sampler capabilities plus some extra oscillators. You can think about as sort of an hybrid between the two version with enhanced oscillators
A korg electribe with both the oscilators and filters from the synth and all the sampling capabilities from the sampler? And more even? Why didn't korg themselves do this? This box is such a mystery when it comes to product design and support.

does the hack come with factory drum samples like the original e2s or do you have to put everything on there manually?

Not it doesn't, you have to add those or your own samples manually

No crashing, but I do feel like the Electribe is a bit slower now and moving fast on it like I used to before maybe overload the DSP. For instance when I let it play and modify a bunch of knobs I get some light stuttering that resolve after a few seconds.
