We don’t usually react to songs like this, but since it's the month of April Fools Day, and the world feels a bit down, there's no better time to have an episode dedicated to Pinoy Novelty Songs that make us smile! This subgenre of OPM may be cringy to some, but it’s undoubtedly a unique facet of Filipino Music that we can’t just ignore. Don’t miss out on what our Korean friends think about Pinoy Novelty Songs at the end of our video! 💜 This video features Korean KZreadr 켈리벨스Kellybells who lives in the Philippines! Check her channel out! kzread.info/dron/rrc2wG-F1mPuah_Lb7FJvg.html P.S. If you wanna see more videos from us in a more relaxed setting, we’ve just opened a new Vlog, Lifestyle & Behind-The-Scenes channel called “EL from EL’s Planet!” We hope to put a smile on your face through these free-and-easy videos! I hope you will react to Bisaya songs someday. I'm hoping for it. Pleaaase. (Bisaya is its own language, BTW, not a "dialect." That's misinformation.) I hope you react to "Gugma Gugma" by Von Saw ft. Pao Lofranco & RJ Ensalada, "Duyog" by Jewel, "Balay ni Mayang" by Martina Sandiego and Kyle Wong, and "Englisera" by Missing Filemon. Thank you so much if you ever do it.

Both "walo" and "otso" are Filipino words for "eight"...They are all considered the equivalent or translation of "eight" in the Filipino national language. They just differ in etymology or origin, for "walo" came from Tagalog language for "eight" (the main language where the Filipino national language is based from) and "otso" is an indigenized or Tagalized spelling of the Spanish word for "eight" which is "ocho". The Spanish language really influenced most of the languages of the Philippines including the Tagalog language. The Spanish cardinal number system became commonly used even most of the Spanish people left the Philippines. It entered most of the languages of the Philippines and even replacing the original cardinal numbers of those other languages, and is mostly used in measurements, telling time, and sometimes in telling currency alongside or interchangeably with the original or native words for cardinal numbers in the languages of the Philippines. When most Spanish words were adopted as words in Tagalog language and other native and indigenous languages of the Philippines, they were all natively and phonetically spelled or adopted using the native form or adaptation of the Roman-Latin script which was derived from the Spanish alphabet and English alphabet but fitted to the limited sounds of the other languages of the Philippines and the Tagalog language. This native adaptation of the Roman-Latin script to write and spell down native words from the various languages of the Philippines is called Abakada alphabet. It is a Romanization of the ancient writing systems of the Philippines collectively referred to as Baybayin script, though Baybayin script is the script used before primarily to spell and write down Tagalog words before the Spanish Abecedario alphabet was introduced in the Philippines. This Abakada alphabet, though in a Roman-Latin script, is limited with letters that stands for limited native sounds and uses only one letter for one sound. That is why the Spanish "ocho" became "otso" when it entered and was written in the Tagalog language, the form of the Filipino national language before, and in the other languages of the Philippines, for the "ch" sound is rare in most of these languages and the closest equivalent to it is the sound combination of "t" and "s" pronounced together. Later on, the "ts" letter combination became the direct equivalent for the "ch" sound altogether and not just an equivalent sound for it, and the spelling of these words weren't changed since then and up until now even though the Modern Filipino Alphabet already uses the non-native letters and sounds from English, Spanish, and most other foreign languages. The pronunciation of these words though still varies today, like the word "otso" can be pronounced as /ot-so/ or /o-tso/ while still using the "ts" letter combination as a native sound equivalent for the "ch" sound, or it can also be pronounced as /o-cho/ like how it is originally pronounced in Spanish and how the "ch" sound really sounded, even though the spelling is still "otso" and not reverted back to the original "ocho" spelling. This spelling phenomenon in history of the languages of the Philippines, including Tagalog language and the Filipino national language, is true for all of the foreign words that entered the Philippines and were adopted in the various languages of the Philippines during those times when the Abakada alphabet was used, promoted, taught, and propagated as the alphabet of the Tagalog language, the Filipino national language, and as the alphabet basis of the other languages of the Philippines. So foreign words that entered the Philippines and were adopted in the various languages of the Philippines are spelled natively and phonetically using the Abakada alphabet. Here are some examples: Computer = kompyuter Jeep/jeepney = dyip/dyipni Linguistica/Linguistics = Lingguwistika/Linggwistiks Diario (Spanish for "newspaper"/ = dyaryo Calle (Spanish for "street") = kalye Calsada (Spanish for "road") = kalsada Cruz (Spanish for "cross") = krus/ kurus Filipinas (original name of the entire country given by the Spanish people) = Pilipinas Cinco (Spanish word for "five") = singko Caballo (Spanish word for "horse") = kabayo/kabalyo etc. Both of the Tagalog cardinal numbers and the Tagalized or indigenized Spanish cardinal numbers are interchangeably used in the Filipino national language and by the Filipino people, though one cardinal number system is preferred to be used in one situation over the other and it depends on the situation it is being used. It is similar to how Korean native numbers are interchangeably used with Chinese-derived numbers in Korea with still one being preferred to be used over the other depending on the situation where it is being used.

You can also react to famous non-Tagalog or non-Filipino national language songs, like those from Cebuano, Hiligaynon, Waray, Ilocano, Kapampangan, Pangasinense, Bahasa Sug, and Chavacano languages. I bet you can find one like "Por que/Porque" for Chavacano, "Biraddali" for Bahasa Sug, "Pero Atik Ra" for Cebuano, "Oras" by Mernuts for Kapampangan, etc. I hope you'll feature the original songs in their native language and not those with added Tagalog translations or lyrics to it. It's time to show them the diversity, richness, and uniqueness of the Philippines through our various languages. Btw, the Philippines has 100+ different languages with each language having its own dialect to two or more dialects within. It is really a misinformation that we Filipinos grew up treating only Tagalog, Filipino, English, Spanish, and Arabic and other foreign languages as languages, while mistreating the rest of the languages in the Philippines as just mere dialects.

Oooohh i was angsty when i saw this in my notifs cause i was like WHAT?!! Opm?! but then i saw this and like oo nga noh, thats true! It is a part of opm subgenre and culture that u cant deny
Wayback in our class, we tackled about what otso-otso means. It's actually a song for exercise where "otso" was coined from the word "osteoporosis". As what the video shown, all ages were encouraged to execute the dance as exercise (hipbone move or whatnot steps) to prevent the said condition esp for those older people because most of them have this condition that affects the decrease in bone mass with decreased density and enlargement of bone spaces producing porosity and fragility, in short for osteoporosis.
Everyone is reacting to otso otso like it's the weirdest song with the weirdest dance move ever. But then there's Gangnam style. Haha

During 90's filipino opms are famous in korea like otso otso
"CHAMBE" is the nickname the singer (alex) gave to her nephew. So this song is made for him (the nephew). Also the highlight of the dance in the chorus is the way his nephew dance whenever she would sing for him.
You should react on eye opener OPM songs (Tastulok - Bamboo, Upuan - Gloc 9, Banal na aso - Yano)

Life is finding joy and happiness even in a simple actions or ways. Music may be weird but it is a universal language understood by every one. Once you start to know the beats you are hook to it. Goodluck to your fun... pure fun music beat.
Your reactions are so cute. 😆
When Filipino kpop fans read subtitles to understand Korean language meanings. Now koreans read subtitles to understand Filipino language, I'm starting to think, the sun revolves around the earth.
Otso-otso has an official korean translation by Lee Su Kyong. The song Otso-Otso was played in one of the scenes in Korean movie "Romantic Island" which was Lee Su Kyong was in. She made a korean translation of the song. 😁😁 The movie was shot in the Philippines... Boracay..
I think otso otso refers to the 16 counts we do during exercise? Here in the Philippines we count 1-8 then 8-1 to do it, so maybe thats the otso otso?
early .. love this channel
I love this one!
Maybe you guys can do a separate episode for pamela one, spaghetti, and butsekik.
The vibe tho👌
