Fresh, cold, ripe watermelon is perfect just as it is. I don't understand why people want to ruin it by adulterating it with other ingredients, especially things like sugar and canned fruit in (sugar) syrup. Is this a real Korean recipe? It looks revolting.

Just an old recipe from when watermelons were a lot less sweet in Korea so they added sugar to make it palatable. I do say I prefer reg ol’ watermelon but this is nice as a one time summer treat
