KPop I can understand. Not sure about KDramas because at the time in 2003, KDramas also started to air on Philippine television at the time when Taiwanese dramas (F4) was dominating.

I think Sandara opened a lot of doors for the Korean culture to be known in the Philippines. Naturally bridging Korean and Philippine culture. Her kababayan vibes cones out whenever she meets filipinos outside the Philippines, shows her Filipino by heart.

Dara was embraced by the Filipinos because of her humble beginnings when she joined Star Circle Quest. She's named as Pambansang Krung-Krung(literal translation Nation's Crazy) her crazy but adorable side made Filipino's loved her, I still remember her saying Mahal ko kayo(I love you) while waving and crying in front of the judges and she also said she'll jump in the building if she won't win in the show- her craziness and authenticity is on another level. She's also very funny. Sandara Park and also Ryan Bang -two Koreans that are embraced in Philippine entertainment industry. Ryan Bang also shared that he was offered to be a trainee in SM Entertainment CEO before but he chose to stay & pursue his career in the Philippines

Taiwanese people are really famous here in the Philippines back then 'coz of Meteor Garden (year 2002) but when Sandara Park became a household name, Hallyu wave, kdramas and kpop prosper in our country up to this day. Personally, she is the reason why I knew kpop. 😊

@@filipinohomecooking Korea should thank Meteor Garden because Filipinos used to watch Mexican series only and listen to American singers only like Britney, Cristina A, Westlife, Nysnc etc. For Filipinos, Thalia was the standard of beauty back then until Meteor Garden fever. Everybody was crazy about Barbie Hsu. I remember during Kris Aquino interview with Barbie Hsu, she said "I am thankful to you because of you, Filipinos with chinky eyes are now considered beautiful in the Philippines". I actually had no idea about Korea before. I only knew China, Japan, and Taiwan until Abscbn Tagalized Lovers in Paris, I was hooked, and then I watched Jewel in the Palace and Jumong. I have never watched Endless Love, and Full House until now even The Descendants of the Sun. My turning point to becoming a Kdrama fan was Crash Landing On You.

Seriously because of Sandara i got to know the kpop/ korean culture, also wherever countries Sandara goes as long there are filipinos she will be known as our Pambansang krung krung, the singer of IN OR OUT aside of being a 2ne1 member.😊

Sandara treats the Philippines as a home. Despite her success in her home country (Korea), she never forgot the Philippines. This only doubled the support that Filipinos are giving her. She is like the National Daughter. Our National Krung-krung. Whenever she comes back to the Philippines, it feels like having a relative coming back from abroad 😂. To be fair, as well, it was due to Sandara why the Philippines got so much into KPOP. Her debut opened that world to the Filipinos.

Sam Oh being one of the first to have landed her own tv show called Rated Oh!(2005) and she's a seasoned newspaper columnist in manila times. She been working here for the longest time.

@@dizznut1 Not really, i think sandara and sam oh started at the same year (2004) it's just that Sandara was more popular because everyone watches SCQ but Sam Oh was a tv host at that time. And i also remember that there was an another korean who was a like in morning news or talkshow before them, i just couldn't remember the name coz it was too long ago but i have a feight memory to that i was watching that korean girl in morning talk show while preparing to go for my HS graduation it was yr 2000.

She became much more popular than the winner and the finalists in that contest at that time. It was almost like she won the contest. And then she became even more famous after joining 2NE1. And because of her 2NE1 and Kpop became popular in the Philippines. She is loved in the Philippines because she loves the country too.
