Arirang Alone is based on a very old folk song but its a more modern remake about the split and the longing they have for South and North Korea to be reunited.

This is a traditional Korean folk song but with the flair only So Hyang can put on a song. You should listen to I Have Nothing to see her perform in English.

Nick, since no one else seems to have done, I'll give you a bit of info: your pronunciation of her name is correct, many can never say it. Arirang is a 400 year old traditional Korean folk song. Her "Bridge over troubled waters" is beautiful. And, yes phenomenal vocals. She'll never disappoint you. Actually, I think Henry Lau videos of him with guests (during Covid, so outside) might be OK for uploading. Henry is a Canadian Korean who speaks 12 Languages and plays dozens of instruments, sings, dances, composes, is a Mentor of young talent, and is a Restaurateur. There is at least one of him and So Hyang. And others with Lena Park "busking" in Italy. Another female singer worth seeing is... Chinese singer Jane Zhang doing "All of me" on Singer 2016. There's a Brit or American in the audience totally smitten. It was so good, John Legend played piano for her on a Concert.

Arirang is Korean traditional song with many different forms. Arirang is a name of actual as well as a symbolical hill. It could be a symbolism of a hill of hardship that a person or a nation of people must climb over and overcome the hardships of individual lives or hardships of the nation as a whole.

She only wants to sing for charities, churches and while doing missionary work, to strengthen those suffering through difficult times. David Foster, Josh Groban, Michael Bolton and others have all eagerly worked with her when they were in Asia. She contracted hepatitis B from a blood transfusion during her cancer surgery and it clings to her to this day. This is a 600 year old folk song about the reunification of Korea written when they were under the boot of Japan. For an idea of how terrible life was during the occupation look up "Korean comfort girls". When the Japanese forced young women to become prostitutes for the Japanese army. Nobody really knows what arirang means from what I understand because it has been lost in time but this is a very original version of the song by Sohyang. She does all of her arrangements with her husband. She is not only a bad ass singer, she is a successful science fiction writer. She is also a cancer survivor. She also contracted hepatitis from a blood transfusion. She could have any recording contract she wants but she chooses to use her voice to raise the spirits of the suffering and to sing for her church and the glory of God. I've seen professional opera singers be blown away at how impossible high she can sing in a full chest voice. All of them thought it was impossible until they heard Sohyang. Keep diving in.
