The more I learn about rule changes in judo, the more I see the Japanese changing the rules because somebody else beat them. 🧐

it's true they benefitted from it but I actually think the rules favor west europeans, as they have the most power in the IJF

Similar to MMA whenever strikers are beating grapplers
They need to let moves play out and evolve defenses naturally instead of simply banning them. It feels its becoming more like a handicapped sports game than an actual martial art
so sad it got banned, this seoi nage stands out. hope they can have a sports martial arts like judo. japanese politics is so bad...

The official reason for banning reverse/Korean seoi-nage is for safety issues. It allegedly caused a lot of injuries, enough to warrant it. Allegedly.

@@thekitchenvillainreally? That's weird. Judo is pretty common sports in korea. A lot of schools have their own judo team.

Yeah someone else mentioned it earlier but it is somewhat reminiscent of Buakaw humiliating fan favorite Masato in Japan during the golden days of K1 kickboxing. Now K1 is a shell of its former self (even their #2 guy, Takeru, signed with One FC recently).
