I live in Korea. This is the beauty standard there to be skinny, so a lot of them have a strict diet and lose weight a lot, even though I personally don't think they should. It's really sad :(

When you live in a country where the standard of beauty is to be skinny, your self esteem is going to be affected, especially if you are not skinny. She obviously is perfect the way she is and if she wants to lose weight it should be for her, and not anyone else.

@@wheeler5382 I literally live in Korea and have Korean friends that tell me that the beauty standards here is very toxic, even Korean people do not meet the standards they set themselves. For you to just regard us as just “foreigner” says a lot about you.

As far as I know the girl in the video is not fat. She seems to be wanting to loose weight . yeah sure , go on, attain the body you wish for, gain more confidence, I wish her all the best, but just wanted to say that pretty girl is not considered fat. And to people out there ,being overweight does not mean you are not pretty, you know that, and we know you are working on what is better for you. Power to you girl and boys. Lots of love.

as long as your body is healthy and not too overweight or underweight, it is beautiful. people set goals for themselves and beauty is not for you to decide for everyone. There are definitely more people wishing to be skinny rather than fat. There are different beauty standards for different people of culture or races that they look up to. For example Korea, people say they have a toxic standard for beauty but the funny thing is that Koreans themselves don't even care as much as the people spectating their sizes and proportions. The trend of body shapes will change as humans evolve so stop complaining about being bullied because you have a certain body type and just accept reality or change and set a goal to work towards. Because the reality is: you cant change others to fit your liking, but you can change yourself to fit into your liking.

People who speaks fluent Korean should know, when she says 살빼야겠어 it might directly translate to English as "i need to loose some weight," but it also means i need to workout and go to gym. It's like an idiom. She means she want to healthily build her body by loosing unnecessary fats and gain muscles to have what she consider ideal body type. I don't really comment but yall really should stop saying "oh koreans are so toxic and they always want women to be skinny bonny." It really feels uncomfortable as a korean.

@@refnaholic2747 thank u so much for saying that. toxic beauty standards exist in every country including korea. but i sometimes feel like we koreans are used as a victim of misery porn by westerners. if i click on videos like "idols who crushed k beauty standards" all i see is a damn good looking men and women. The comment sections be like "oh this this guy is so cute with his freckles" or "oh she is just glamorously curvy" or "oh she is not afraid to show her tanned skin in front of all those toxic koreanssss!" cmon they obviously appear attractive to koreans as well. they debuted in koreaaaaa. i feel sick when people use good looking celebrities when talking about exceptional cases of k beauty. all the comments are doing is praising good looking people and they think that they are so awake unlike toxic koreans. i mean what i k beauty in the first place? who the heck decided and defined korean beauty as being white pale and skinny and having double eyelids? im not saying this just because im korean but i hope when people say koreans are toxic, i hope they at least visited korea even for once. cus i feel like they are talking about this based on what they see on twitter and youtube and other medias... thanks if u read until the end ur the best. sorry for just going off crazy lmao

I think lots of "influencers" nowadays do a little thing or two to their faces/bodies(and that's totally okay), but it's kinda sad that many youngsters will believe that most of these influencers are natural and the youngsters will feel not so pretty and will keep waiting for this "glow up" that the influencers "went through". I'm not saying they didn't glow up, I'm just saying that a some had a little help.

@@sae4562 Could just be a an app. A lot of them were using apps and it can be obvious. If their skin is too clear and uniform like at 6:59. That is almost definitely an app changing her appearance to be more attractive. You can really tell when looking at her jawline. Also the guys that got sex changes are 100% using apps to enhance their appearance.

@Sonia Sutaria And South Korea is also quite high up when it comes to eating disorders, which can be very dangerous. Our brains and bodies is the same, and we get to little fat in our bodies, the brain starting to struggle and eating disorders develops. You start to see yourselves as far, even though you are far from it. When you call that girl fat, I really start to worry. That is NOT fat, I doesn’t matter where I come from or where anyone comes from. I say this because I care, from the bottom of my heart.

To the girl, I really hope she doesn't try to “lose weight", Koreans are really going for standards that are impossible and most important NOT healthy at all, you can go to the gym and tone up those muscles, but c'mon it's not really "pretty" or healthy to try and be on your bones

@@GuileTGTV it is simpler than that. You just need to use the right app. Many of them were using apps that change their faces and sometimes their bodies. Some really put in the work and got good genetics. But a lot is apps, lighting and favorable camera angles.

It's a cultural difference when it comes to beauty standards that actually makes sense if you know about their history. You see, in the past only people who worked in the field and were all day in the sun got tanned, so being pale was considered to show a higher status. It meant that the person didn't do labor work and lived a comfortable life of a noble which was what everyone sought. Add how dark skinned Asians are (in many cases not always) of course they'd consider something opposite more beautiful. Same with how curly hair sometimes are jealous of people with straight hair and via-verca. Same reason why in North Korea, being overweight is consider better than being skinny. Their country has faced a lot of famine in the past, hard labor etc, so people looked up to the higher ranking officials and families that had more weight. They became the 'beauty standard' of their country to show of wealth. You can find such examples pretty much everyone, in every culture.
