The sad thing is as a US citizen watching this I was like "meh". We're so desensitized to shootings and it's a norm we can hear gunshots going off in our cities and just continue on with life. It's almost like a "mind your business" state of mind...and that's pretty sad now that I'm thinking about it.

@@liii3622 but you don't live in a country with it's whole bases derived off freedom. America was built on the idea that we all have the right to protect ourselves from our government if things go south. Now I'm not saying I agree or disagree with guns because that doesn't even matter at this point in this country BUT most of the people who actually go out on killing sprees and the average gun violence is done by people who don't own their guns legally or have had their right to bear arms revoked from them for having a history of violent crimes. The avg. American owns a gun. I don't think it would be a lie to say that 1 in 3 own at least a small pistol and most own them to protect themselves from those before mentioned violent offenders. I don't know the answer to gun laws and what's the right way to handle the violence but I do know this, however unfortunate it may seem if the government tried to take the right to own from citizens that would result in war and even more death as we are raised up to have a certain viewpoint in this country and most would see it as a government overreach. Also, this may seem like a really morbid thing to mention but if I were the casualty of a violent crime I'd much prefer to be shot then stabbed to death or have my head chopped off like what happened this past year in France. Half the time people who are shot don't even feel the bullet enter them where being stabbed multiple times seems rough. I'm more fearful of dying in a car crash because someone is driving drunk or on drugs to be honest and it sucks now because sometimes I'll be carefully driving behind someone I think is drunk and when it's finally safe to speed by them it's some idiot on their cell phone. You can't even tell anymore.

My friend and I were in Seoul in 2019 and walking through Myeongdong at night. It was very crowded, and in the middle of one street was a person wearing a head-to-toe cat costume (advertising a cat cafe), who was holding a machine gun, pointing it at people’s faces. Obviously it was just a toy, but as Americans, our gut reaction to seeing a person whose face is hidden behind a mask, pointing a gun, in the middle of a huge crowd of people, was VERY different from all of the Koreans around. I remember my stomach dropping in an instant, and we both had an immediate instinct to run, that something terrible was about to happen. We laughed about it after, but it was an uneasy laugh. And we surely did not go to that cat cafe. 😬

Many Americans who do not know much about South Korea perceive South Korea as a dangerous country because of North Korea. In fact, the probability that South and North Korea will go to war is close to 0%, and the probability of being killed by others for no reason in South Korea is close to 0%. Everyone would freeze for a second if a kid did and the cafeteria usually got quiet. Kid would get in trouble and lunch would move on. I said "somebody is shooting" I've never heard gunfire in person, but I play shooter games and the sound and pattern was similar. Next thing I know a hooded guy is darting away, then cops showed up and the hooded guy came back from where he ran but in different pants. I told the cops everything. They caught the creep 3 days later.

My uncle, who is an army vet has a collection of guns and baseball bats at his place. He also is into archery and has tons of crossbows and arrows. He even bought customized cross rows from my cousins. One of my cousins is actually on the archery team at his elementary school. One time they were practicing in the backyard of my uncle’s house. And my cousin (who was about 7yo at the time) was practicing to shoot a cup my uncle held with his bare hand. Mind you, my cousin had real arrows he was shooting. When he shot the arrow the first time the arrow flew past my uncles forehead mm away from it. And all my 7yo cousin did was laugh because he thought it was funny how my uncle almost fainted. And then his little sister who was about 4yo came out with her pink crossbow and said, “MY TURN DADDY! ☺️”. I swear my uncle and cousins are crazy af.

My neighborhood market just down the road from me had a shooting on the day that my mom and I decided not to go. It's just not shocking anymore. I've been on a real lockdown in high school where police cars, detectives, and helicopters were surrounding us. We stayed in a class room for a few hours and then continued school. Idk but then he pulled a gun, was threatening to shoot us, yelling at us to pull over, followed us for like 5/10 minutes pointing his gun at us and stuff like that. "Please use guns only to protect yourself." That is exactly the issue. That is the reason guns are so easy to get in America. That is how that dad shot his 7 year old son. That is how bullied kids go to their school and "defend themselves" or "make a statement." There's this video somewhere about someone taking a course in "responsible gun use", and even in training they shoot innocents. No matter how responsible you feel, in high stress situations, you'll pull the trigger, even on innocent people. Much like that father. (And even if you're immune to stressful situations because you're a socio/psychopath, that can also mean you're probably numb to the effects of murder.)

They aren't easy to get, to legally own a gun you have to go through an over annoying background check that in some states can take months going into a year. That's also ignoring the fact a lot of crimes are committed with illegally obtained guns to begin with. Taking a gun safety course online doesn't equate to actually taking a actual gun safety class where you actually learn things about the gun, and at the end of the day shit happens. But when shit happens with anything else people blame the person not the tool yet mention gun and omg the tool is evil, not the person using the tool.

And it is easily the most scariest moment I had in highschool thus far. I was in a classroom during 3rd period, and everything was fine and normal until our principal came on the announcement saying that there is an "unidentified person" on campus and that we need to calmly follow procedure. Our teacher was quick to turn off the lights/locks door, and our classroom was pitch black. We all silently and carefully got on the ground behind our desk, or at least me and two other students did. The other two remained in their seats, not budging or seeming to care too much. The class was awfully small so we didn't have many in the room. The air was tense, and everyone seemed to be holding their breath. At first I tried to make myself believe that this was a drill and that they were making it more believable. Every second was suffocating, and as I crouched there I started to realize it was a real drill. Then came the panic. I wanted to cry and text my mom I loved her, but I was so scared to even move. More and more minutes went by until I calmed myself down enough to try and think rationally. I was towards the back, but I was up against the wall that lined the hallway. I made sure to keep my distance from the wall, but close enough so I could hear any voices, gunshots, screaming, footsteps, etc. I kept distance though in case there was an intruder with guns and their bullets could somehow go through the wall. I debated on taking off my boots I couldn't run in beforehand just in case. I even started running through scenarios where I could at least save one person and myself in this room if I were to hear gunshots or anything alarming through that wall...and I was ready to run and ditch if I had to. But I was still terrified. I was scared to move, and I was scared that everyone I knew could die. Realistically in that moment, if someone did charge in with a gun in that room? I don't think any of us could have made it if I am being honest. Maybe one survivor in that class at least, but nothing more than that. In that dark room, I was thinking of ways to survive ...even if they were stupid and unrealistic. I wanted to live. Luckily it was a false alarm. It was only an hour just sitting there, but it felt longer than that. It was really scary given the fact that I am in TEXAS of all places. If you know politics here and how everyone felt about guns, you can't blame me for being scared shitless. Shootings are a problem here in America, especially public ones or school shootings. Kids here literally joke about it to cope and many are already so used to that possibility of danger at a young age. I think about "school Shooting scenarios" in different classrooms so I could have at least a vague plan, and my school had medics come and tell us how to pack a wound and stop bleeding because I quote: "We aren't going to be there when you need us in that moment. And we aren't always going to make it. So please rely on eachother." It is a sad reality.

I live in Minneapolis, Minnesota, US and I have a police scanner active on my phone at all times to stay safe, which tells me when anything dangerous in my vicinity is reported, so I know to be careful. There are 3-5 shootings in my part of my city alone every day. Sometimes more. This is extremely normal here.... and it shouldn't be.

I think a lot of people in America grow up without hearing gunshots. I don't think I've ever heard a gunshot in my life. If you live in the suburbs you probably won't, but the cities you would hear shots from gun violence sometimes and in the countryside literally everybody has guns for hunting. Guns are a huge problem here in the states but unfortunately we can't get rid of them, or restrict them or do anything about it because all of the conservative republicans that live in the countryside and the large southern states believe everyone should have guns for killing animals, killing home invaders, and just showing off to each other (because most people with guns have at least 5 guns). But guns do a lot more harm then good. They say that theres too many guns out there so they shouldn't even bother trying to recall them and that it would be impossible and that bad people would still get their hands on guns anyways, but Australia banned guns not all that long ago and since then they haven't had any mass shootings. The States have at least one mass shooting a day, which is really sad.

Guns are restricted. Yet DEMOCRAT cities like New York, Chicago, Detroit, LA, etc., which have the most restrictive laws have the highest number shootings. And your “fact” that most people own five guns or more is completely baseless and a well-known talking point of liberals to (falsely) instill fear. It is DEMOCRAT policies of no-bail arrests, hampering police, letting criminals back out on the street, and creating division and hate by dividing us all up into small sub-groups based on skin color, that encourages lawlessness. Keep voting Democrat though. It only exposes the radical takeover of Liberals by the socialists. And, keep in mind that you are free to leave horrible America any time you wish. You talk a good game but are a paper tiger.

For some contrast, can we get some positive gun videos to react to? I own several guns and carry one with me every day. I feel like shows the worst side of firearm ownership and see it as propaganda against my culture. If the goal of this video is culture shock, showing range videos would serve that function as well. In a country of 330,000,000 people, understand that these incidents are rare. And even fewer are mass shootings. A vast majority of shootings are 1 person with murderous intent for 1 other person. For the sake of fairness, I'd like some videos from people that are pro gun. That would shock these reactors as much as this video did and let them mull over how not one-sided this issue is.

Usually when there's a holiday with fireworks some people like to shoot guns up into the air too, which is dumb because those bullets come right back down to earth and can cause damage. Every so often it's in the news where a random person was killed in their house/car/front yard by a stray bullet from someone, somewhere, shooting for some dumb reason. I left the US for the UK for a few years and I absolutely felt safer knowing there weren't guns everywhere. I don't fear criminals with guns nearly as much as I fear random stupid people causing accidents. Kids accidentally kill people every year.
