I totally agree rhe old school ppi art series were the best sounding power out there. Maybe McIntosh and Phoenix gold could compete back then but those were some clean awesome sounding amps. I had the pro Mos 450 "GOD" amp. That amp was a legend and I still wish I had it. I would for sure use it. The sound quality from that amp was unbelievable. I just wonder how they were able to get such a crisp clean sound back then.

Had Precision Power (or Epsilon for that matter) rated this amp honestly, and sold it as a 1200 watt unit (400, 800 and 1200 watts into 4, 2 and 1 ohms respectibly), it would have been a real budget gem. Also, being strappable, combining two for a total output of at least 2500 watts at a little under $260 is a good deal in my books. By the way Derek. I saw a Boss amp with honest ratings in the manual. Pretty sure it was the newer Onyx series. Despite having the big MAX number plastered all over the box, the manual it came with had actual honest ratings in it. Never thought I'd see the day

I’m glad consumers have a ton of choices now in the sub-$150 amp space. Unfortunately, many of the competitors have a ton more headroom in that same exact price range. These amps cost a little under $24 to make overseas, so it’s great price for the consumer and great profit for the factory.

Interesting to see that car audio is still a thing given that OEM car systems are SO much better than they have ever been - rather than throwaway systems - you have vehicles with McIntosh, Mark Levinson, Focal, and others -- so nice! But as always - the high end market will always provide value. I had several iterations of systems over the years. I had a love of music not just 'sound' so I got a job at a local high end store that had car audio gear -- blauplunkt, alpine, mcintosh or nakamichi head unit my speakers ranged from a/d/s, mbquart b&w jbl speakers driven by early soundstream, adcom, carver and mcintosh amps... such clean sound. NO -- I wasn't breaking any decibel records -- but -- the sound quality rivaled anything I had or have heard in the car audio world.

Just couldn't afford them back in the late 90's and early 00's. Now they are more affordable but I won't buy something that is over rating the power output. Even if the build quality seems amazing. I want the product I'm purchasing to be able to put out the power it says or more even if it doesn't actually produce it in my real world application. On that note thank you for your videos so it can assist anyone in making the best decision for themselves.

My comment is it passes the low ohm test and didn't clip or fuzz out. Reminds me of the old 94 precision power competing with fosgate. I have a question... please slave the two and see what it does. Pulse at power to both sources in and out. Battery bank the slave also

I wouldn't have any issues running one if they just rate the actual power. This should be a 1200w amp and I would be so cool with it. I have a Korean made Soundstream nano 4 channel, the white one. Sounds great and it has never let me down. I don't know its actual power but it doesn't seem lacking.

I don't get why they have to keep lying to the public with their bogus ratings. If they were honest, people would respect them. It's a shame that such a great brand from back in the day has come to this. Thanks for the great video, BigD!! 💪🔥

My MVR expert 1005 gave up on me about 8 years ago. I had that and 2-t1000s for my system. I had no idea where to get the expert repaired and didn't want to spend $2k on a set of newer alpines, so I got the PPI P1000.1 and P900.4 for about $300. Both had the same d-class insides as the Polk, NVX, etc., at the time. They do pretty well, honestly. But I doubt I'd buy this. Are they just throwing a stack of fuses on it to make it look mean?

Id still use this at the price point but it would for a setup that just requires 1k-1.2k @1ohm. at the the price point its a steal. Again brands should market this as what it is, a solid 1200 watt amp. I wonder what the 4 channel can do?

I remember when they launched this line and is sister line (the rubicon nano) at Soundstream in 2015 as replacements for the Power Class and Reference line. Its nice to see that the amo deaign of the Atom (and Im gonna guess rhe Rubi nanos since aside from the heatsink they have the exact same layout) is decent. Though its sad to see thay they are treating PPI and Soundstream like they do Power Acoustik, just slap a big number on the box for the young bass heads. Which is duobly sad giveen that prior to 2015 SS and PPI were still staffed by people thay seemed to really want this brands to live up to their legacy.
