    I knew that, but I seriously don't understand why teachers would use such words at all. It's like they don't want their students to ever sound like natives.

  • @koreanmorning

    “저희” is used to show respect to the person you are speaking to. If the person you are talking to is not in a higher position than you but you are not close to them so if you use 존댓말, you can use “우리” instead. The Korean language's system of honorifics is very complicated, and even native speakers sometimes get confused😂

    When I speak in Korean, I almost always just omit the subject in the sentence unless I'm bringing up something new. Though, when I speak to Koreans, they still omit subjects more than I do haha. Also, I have a question. Sometimes, I see Koreans replace 제, which they might use for "My" with 우리, why is that? Or maybe it's a different word that they use 우리 for, sorry if I gave an incorrect example!

  • @koreanmorning

    @koreanmorning

    10 күн бұрын

    We use 우리 as a meaning of ‘my’ for house, family, school, company, country and so on. So we use it for some community or group.

    Why did I hear it in so many kdramas recently? Queen of Tears used 당신 a looot. (To a point I thought it meant something like 자기), but I also heard it in Lovely Runner. I remember hearing 그녀 (and searching it after) I was wondering if shows dont sound as natural sometimes then? Edit: Ok so she explains it just a bit later, but my question still stands. Is it normal for kdramas not to be daily conversation-like? To be a literary context? Esp when its meant to depict daily interaction? Honest questions cause then it means I shouldnt rely on them fully 😅

  • @koreanmorning

    @koreanmorning

    42 минут бұрын

    I also watched the drama "Queen of Tears" and heard the word "당신" a lot. In dramas, "당신" is used to express dramatic elements depending on the genre or atmosphere. It appears frequently in novels too. However, in real conversations, we rarely use "당신"😊
