exactly he's a machine like i wouldn't think it would ever be possible for a rapper to be this adept and skilled and impressive at making points with words in a way that is easy to digest for the listener. to do this you have to be clever enough to sound original and creative enough to impress people but also stay relatable and be understandable to a regular person listening. they talk about this point in something from nothing the art of rap music with ice-t. someone said a rapper can't just be good at rhyming and be a good rapper bc you can't say words that are too intelligent for most people to get.

It's the newer generation today that werent around during that time that don't know who he is because the rappers that came after him didn't shout him out and give him his proper acknowledgement as one of the rappers that influenced them... It's 2024 and about 10 years ago I was bragging to some of my co-workers that this is one of the best rap lines I've ever heard in any rap song because it never left my mind since I was a kid. "When you hear me, you'll compare me to a prophet for profit, not merely." It's just such a hard ass, creative rhyme. And this was long before rappers were ultra creative when putting together their verses.

Little did they know: Kool Moe Dee with this song became a Legend with a rap song that had a message/flowed over an impeccable James Brown-flavored beat/danced to even still to this day/studied & taught by professors and instructors as to how music can speak to the listener on multiple levels. To those I'd say (in KMD's words from another hit song) How Ya Like Me Now? This is a classic full of 🔥🔥🔥 and one of the best rap songs put on wax 😎

exactly he's a machine like i wouldn't think it would ever be possible for a rapper to be this adept and skilled and impressive at making points with words in a way that is easy to digest for the listener. to do this you have to be clever enough to sound original and creative enough to impress people but also stay relatable and be understandable to a regular person listening. they talk about this point in something from nothing the art of rap music with ice-t. someone said a rapper can't just be good at rhyming and be a good rapper bc you can't say words that are too intelligent for most people to get.

The first time I heard it, I got goosebumps. This jam was a master class.
The breath control on this is insane. Also he took this joint 4 verses. Bar work 10/10 flow 10/10 subject matter 10/10.
There will never be another real artist like Kool Moe Dee.
I used to ❤ to see The Grambling Tigers and The Southern Jaguars marching bands perform this song!💃🏿💃🏿💃🏿
I remember people calling me strange trying to write down & learn these lyrics when this song 1st came out.
Still one of my favorite tunes ever. I never get tired of it. I wore this cassette single out.
