INFO:
Kononari is a Malinke-rhythm for the women. The straight translation of the title would be Bird in a Tree. In the accompanying song both women and men are warned not to behave arrogantly because of their beauty.
PATTERNS & DRUM-ALONG:
At the beginning of the video there is an introduction and short practise of four separated drum lines that appear in the Kononari rhythm. The drum-along track follows, starting by showing how the lines sit in the groove, and then continuing with the rhythm first at slow speed, then medium, and then fast.
SPEEDING UP:
If you feel comfortable with a certain speed and would like to practise faster, you can let the rhythm help you with that. The transitions, "Slow to Medium" and "Medium to Fast", accelerate over 3-4 minutes, to slowly arrive and settle at a new, faster tempo. Just go to the end of the chapter at the tempo you're comfortable with, drum along the transition and see how you hold.

=====================
This is a simplified version of the rhythm. Solo phrases are not included, echauffements are not presented, and the Sangban and Kenkeni, if having parts in the original rhythm, are transposed to a single Djembe pattern.

    Hey man, just re-visiting your percussion video, for a little inspiration! Are you in Chiang Rai? I'm playing every Friday Night at The Bavarian Beer House, Chiang Rai, Jetyod Road (near the clocktower). You should come out, and/or tell all your friends!! I bring tambourines, drumsticks, bells, and other percussion stuff to the show + a 2nd mic so the audience can play beats & people can request to come up and sing a song while I play it (just have to look up the chords online, fake it till ya make it). Anyway, let's keep in touch! P.S. I met a local Thai man who's two sons are both drummers! They're gonna come here to my office (aka I Smell Smoke Studios) and hopefully we'll connect, jam and start a band!! I've only done two gigs so far, let's call it the "COVID is Dead Tour". First show went well, second show was awesome... It's just gonna keep getting better! Check the newest "shorts" on my channel for a quick look at the show... I'm going to edit the audio recording into a "Live Bootleg" too, but I really don't know how to do that, so it's gonna be a learning curve... Hopefully soon enough... Peace! Keep on slappin' them skins! 555

    Hey! I am not in Chiang Rai, but you seem to be embarking in quite a venture (or were you already riding this way pre-Covid?). In any case, I wish it works out well, and you have fun along it! And of course, if I happen to be around, I'll pop in :)

    @@DrumCircleLoops Yeah, I've been doing live shows since I was a kid. Covid slowed us all down. I had a gig in Songkhla, which got cancelled... This current run is my "comeback special". 555.
