Konnichiwa! 1961 Holden EK Special Sedan

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

It took almost ten years searching, hoping and praying, but I have finally (with the help of Holden/WasabiCars fans) managed to track down an EK Holden that made Kyushu, Japan its home in around the year 2000. The grey-engined sedan was bought by its current owner from a seller in Tokyo, whereupon it received a restoration. No mean feat considering there were no spare parts to be had locally. It currently isn't registered, but there's hope this once Wedgwood Blue (and Snowcrest White roofed) classic Holden will be fixed and back on Japan's roads.

Wow, that blood red interior is amazing. I can see why he went with this while looking for a Chevy, the looks is so similar. As someone whose project sat for far too long before finally kicking myself in the butt to get it back on the road, I hope he gets the motivation to get it running again. You would have done him a service if this is what it took.

Holden did export a number of cars in the early 60s.As stated this is one from Indonesia. There is a lot of history with this particular Holden. It would be nice if there was a way to help this chap with his restoration, he has been kind to show us his car. In the classic car enthusiast world we have a smorgasbord of car trades, as well as parts suppliers who can make this happen. Guys we need to somehow get this project of restoration to happen for this classic car. Not sure how but there is someone who can lead this project,This would also be a great follow up video. Good Luck and best wishes.

Goodbye from under the bus!! Haha that was priceless Dan… That Holden is pretty special - remember that for every papier-mache repair you find, each one makes the car lighter - and faster! I liked the old Yamaha Minibike tucked up behind… quite a collectors piece. Thought of you a couple of days ago when I went past a broken-down AZ-1 on the M1 here in the UK (very very rare) - one door was up, looking like he was signalling for rescue! Great vid Dan, keep ‘em coming.

I guess it wasn't uncommon for Japanese and English cars to be repowered with 202s and 250 falcon motors when they failed. But that's because they don't need much to stay running! I hope he can get some parts out of Australia. I'm sure there would be a good gaurd around and trims he could use!

If there are "massive die hard" in Indonesia then why do people keep selling them to foreigner (mainly Aussies) who will re-export them and sell for expensive price when there are more than capable people here who able to maintain it on the road???? Those things were locally manufactured in Surabaya and to hear them saying "we're sending it back home" really facepalming myself
