@@MilitaryBandsEverywhere I certainly approve! But, I must be thanking you! I enjoyed the MBE style of filming the panning and low level shots, it showed scenes and sights not usually seen in other videos of this parade! Well done Sir! You've made my day! The band sounded excellent as always!

Unfortunately the Johan Willem Friso Band no longer exists. Due to budget cuts a long time ago it was merged with the Koninklijke Militaire Kapel (Royal Military Band) into what is now called Koninklijke Militaire Kapel Johan Willem Friso. This ofcourse meant a number of musicians lost their job.

@@charlesmallo Hello! My apologies! I was explained this by an ex-musician of the Johan Willem Friso Band a few years ago, and I for some odd reason continue to call it that instead it's actual name of the Koninklijke Militaire Kapel!

@@delvinrodriguez3341 it's probably for the sake of tradition that the newly formed band is named after the 2 original bands. As an aside, the only bands not affected by the budget cuts are the Band of the Royal Airforce and the Marines Band of the Royal Navy. Others were slimmed down to brass bands or were abolished.

There's always Interesting things to see in your "On Tour" Videos MBE! It's when I watch Videos like this one, I really realise how Totally Ignorant I am in the World of Military Bands. I Love the Music that's in my Favour, but there's so much more. For example, 'Saxophones' I'm used to seeing 'Tenor' & 'Alto' & if it's a great Video I can usually tell them apart, but this Band has 5! & they range from Teeny Tiny to a Big Grand Daddy One. There are some Instruments that I'm not even sure I know what Genre they are. I always thought that Great Music, Marching Music, Military Music, if it Sounded Good & they played some of My Favourites it was Great. Now I know it's not enough. There is Much more to Producing Brilliant Music. It really comes Down to the Instrument & the Talent, Passion & Expertise of the Musicians that Creates the Music, it's not just about playing the Notes on the Music. This Band Creates Great Military Music. Thank you for Sharing it.

Thank you Vicky, glad you enjoyed. There was a great display of instruments on parade and a big strong sound. A good selection of marches too as I’m sure you would agree! There are so many great bands around the world with their own characteristics and styles which is what I love!! So much to explore and learn about

Come on now Vicky, I appreciate your modesty, but you now know the vast majority of the instruments here, and a good deal more than the average member of the population! If it helps, I can list them rank-by-rank later today if I get time. I'll leave the percussion instruments to the experts (you know who I'm talking about!).

Hi again Vicky, and if it helps here goes with the instruments (just speaking "off the cuff" so some small details might not be quite right). Rank 1: 4 trombones (3 tenor and one bass - the bass trombone has the "dull-coloured" bell and the usual 3 loops of tubing at the back). Rank 2: 3 trumpets (similar to cornets, but look longer, slightly different sound). Rank 3: 2 trumpets. Rank 4: 4 French horns. Rank 5: 3 euphoniums. Nice "singing" sound at 03:27 ! Rank 6: percussion. Rank 7: 4 clarinets. Rank 8: 4 clarinets (1 of them being the tiny one at 04:56 - E-flat (?) or maybe Soprano (?)). Rank 9: 4 clarinets. Rank 10: 1 clarinet, 1 piccolo, and 2 flutes (the flutes are the longer sideways instrument at 05:06 ). Rank 11: 4 saxophones (2 tenor and 2 alto - the tenors are the larger ones, nearer the camera at 02:58 ). Rank 12: 1 baritone saxophone (nearest the camera at 02:59 ), 2 bassoons, and 1 oboe (the oboe looks a bit like a clarinet but has a thin tube like a drinking straw going to the player's mouth - see at 05:08 ). Rank 13: 3 sousaphones (American instrument as substitute for tubas, do same job, larger bell, pointing forwards gives different sound projection).

Fantastic description of all the instruments for any curious followers, thanks Mike! Yes it is in fact an Eb Clarinet as opposed to being called a soprano. However it certainly sings the lines out like a soprano singer!
