Thanks. I use the KOM out front mount and really like it. I use a Garmin computer and light and the KOM allows me to take the light off easily for charging the light - no need to unscrew a bolt.
They also make (really cheap) wrench for tightening the thumb screw. It is cut to the shape of a typical knob/thumb screw. I don’t know if people are aware of it. Usually a solid piece of Al.
Just got a combo kit and the included red underside attachment will not turn and lock into place as you are showing it. strange that this included attachment doesn't seem to fit properly. some kind of defect perhaps.
What are the options here to mount a bontrager headlamp on my road bike?

you will need something like Bontrager Lync Ion Blendr adapter. it will enable you to use the gopro mount bracket
Magic shine makes decent lights but their warranty department is less than desirable, especially for the price. My mounting bracket broke because of a bad design and they offered me a discount on a new one. The light is discontinued because it’s a bad design.

I've broken two of their mounts, the solution was to just use a Garmin branded mount, problem solved
