Kolkata to Siliguri via NH34. 700 Km nonstop night ride to Gangtok. East Sikkim 2024 EP 1

Welcome to first episode of our 4 day East Sikkim and Kalimpong ride in May 2024 where we have covered kolkata to siliguri via NH34 and reached gangtok in the same day with my KTM Adventure 250, my friend's Yamaha FZs and a Maruti WagonR. After completing office work at afternoon, we started from Kolkata around 7:15 PM on 26th April 2024.
This time we did not take the Gouranga Setu Nawadwip route to Krishnanagar. We took NH34 via Barasat. The road upto Kalyani Barajaguli was a bit narrow but after that the road condition as beautiful till Siliguri. As per the latest update, we found Ranaghat Bypass to be opened. We took Berhampore Bypass and after taking some rest and having dinner we crossed Farakka around 12:00 AM.
My friend, Biky, got aflat tyre in his WagonR after Farakka. It was a bit hectic to find a mechanic to fix the puncture and it took around 1 hour.
We continued after that and after crossing Malda Bypass, we found the Raiganj bypass in open condition at night. Though it was not fully motor able but we took the Raiganj Bypass to avoid the heavy traffic in Raiganj town.
After that we crossed Dalkhola Bypass and took a break after Dalkhola, it was around 5 AM in the morning. We covered Islampur Bypass and took some beautiful pictures. Islampur Bypass offers some beautiful stretch to try out top speed, though not recommended.
We reached siliguri in another 2 hours via Ghospukur-Fulbari Bypass at around 6:50 AM. We did not stop at siliguri and continued towards Mahanada forest and Sevoke Road. The condition of sevoke road was not promising. Somewhere it was buttery smooth and some patches were under construction.
We had our breakfast at hotel phalguny on Sevoke Road and after that we took the newly built Atal Setu which bypasses Rongpo. The road condition from Rongpo to Gangtok was almost good apart from some bad patches. We reached our homestay at Gangtok, Aura Homestay at around 11 AM in morning next day, 27th April.
After checking in and taking some rest we went to hop around MG Marg with a shared taxi. We visited the Little Tibet and The Taste of Tibet restaurants to relish some local foods and also we tried some local beers as well. We ended our day by collecting the passes for east sikkim from our travel agent, whose details i have already shared in the video, and getting back to hotel at evening.
