I saw my cat looking at a mirror on the floor, propped against a chair...my cat would look at the mirror and then try to peek behind the mirror to catch the cat looking at her thru the mirror...it was cute...my cat is really the smartest animal we’ve ever had..he has done things that we couldn’t believe over the years...he’s a Russian Blue...I’ve read that those are often really smart.

Imagine Koko became a proud mom and teaches her baby the sign language. This would be a world changing man made evolution.

So sad about hearing of Koko's passing June 19, 2018. We should all say a prayer for this amazing gentle creature that taught us so much about gorillas and their feelings. Penny, my heart goes out to you.

When Koko started crying for her kitten loss I really felt her pain, these animals have emotions just like us.

And some people call them dumb animals.... Animals put most of us humans to shame.

It's even more then just intelligence. Koco feels loss and sadness. Humans keep animals as pets and love them and take care of them. No other species does that, except Koco proved us wrong. She has empathy in addition to her intelligence.

I disagree with the people saying this is imprisonment. koko is a gorilla and the gorilla population is becoming smaller and more in danger. It is safer for her where she is. She is in a loving environment where she is gaining skills that are amazing. just because shes not in the jungle doesn't mean she is a prisoner.

+Briody Gibson In a way a Zoo and even a cage can be better than the hard life in nature, however, Koko is great with human beings, but she could use contact with other gorilla's too. (I hope my English is fine. I live in the Netherlands). Best regards. :)

Briody I think she has a wonderful life...these people love her dearly. But my heart aches that she's not had her own baby and if she was in the jungle she probably would have had many. She needs to experience a real gorilla baby...it's what most females want in life.

I wouldnt want Koko to be let out in the wild, as long as there's human roam free in that area (or the world, in that matters). I can't live through the possibility if Koko met a poacher, proceed to sign then only get her murdered and butchered, all while internally didn't understand why these human different than the kind human she met all this time. Her friend Michael live through that, and he remembered seeing his mother butchered. Sorry for being grim, video about Michael still shaken me

I wish they would give her, her own orphaned gorilla. That's really what she wants is her own baby to teach & love.

For the strength a gorilla has she is exceptionally gentle with her cats. RIP Koko, you will never be forgotten my sweet. Lots of love from the world. ❤️🇬🇧🌍

I have watched a lot of koko videos and she seems happy with her life. She is so smart! In one video she turns away from a sad part in her favorite movie. Her name is short for something that means fireworks. She was born on July 4th.

This is so amazing and at the same time, so heartbreaking. I want her to have a family and a big piece of property to roam around on...still I know she's loved and well taken care of...but the intelligence makes it hard for that to be enough I think.

She did. You only see what they video taped. She actually lived on a large open property in the bay area.

Anybody that watched Coco grow couldn't help but love her when she passed it was a sad thing very sad

I know that Kokos' life has been very educational for humans, but all this gentle giant wants is a natural life with children and other gorilllas. I have watched her vids from the beginning many years ago and feel amazed and humbled and achingly sad.

Koko is at least with her cats very bright and smart always learned alot from her you will be missed thanks koko. Joe

Whenever I see Disney's Tarzan I think of Koko. I can see her being the gentle gorilla mother and taking care of the little, helpless human baby :)

Can I get rid of all you human beings please because youve proved to me over the years that Ive been alive what you are capable of and how terribly you are prepared to treat each other - Can I join the animal kingdom now, I think Id genuinely rather live with koko and her kind. There's just never one minute where they think this gorilla is going to do anything but love

I was soooo heart broken when I heard of Kokos passing, it surely should've been national news! I'd only hoped she would've been allowed to have more than one pet, I think she longed for a baby. But, having many pets/ friends would've eased her want. From videos it was as if she wasn't trusted to be alone with kittens or others cuz of trust issues. Yet, she knew to even duck lower while kitten on her back, the owner saw kitten would not hit metal, yet still hovered over them. I see she wasn't given enough credit for being more capable, compassionate & smarter than lots of pet owners.

I miss Koko. Hope Koko has lots of kitties in heaven🙉❤🐈🐱

It's so precious how gentle she is with them, but if I were that kitten I'd be FREAKING OUT! lol

It amazes me how gentle and loving she is, yet, there's humans out there who hurt and abuse animals.

Pretty interesting that the kittens never seem scared or bothered by being handled by a gorilla, especially since they’ve probably never seen one before. Then again we rarely realize just how odd it must be from the animals perspective, and how they can be so chill with humans touching them all the time. If a giant ape monster 10x my size tried to pick me up and pet me I’d freak out.

She only owned five cats total. The rest are just visits from the humane society. All Ball was hit by a car after less than a year. Lipstick and Smokey lived with her for 20 years, but passed on of natural causes. After Lipstick and Smokey died she didn't actually adopt any more kittens until 2015. Miss Black and Miss Grey are still alive.

My guess is that after getting accidentally scratched or annoyed she would kill them. Cuz cats live 15+ years and they been bringing her new ones every 6 months to 2year

reminded me of my cat that lived for 22 years and seemed to be immortal to me. I have never recovered. and the concept of owning more and more pets is impossible to me

she wants a baby so bad its heart breaking to see her not have the baby her heart wants more than anything. i hope she gets a baby. and beyond that i hope that she has more than one baby and than 1 be her offspring because she is so special her line should be preserved
