It's nice to see how someone who commits their time and effort can achieve such excellent results, even in a smaller setup like the one you described. Seeing the payoff of the grower is satisfying but I also have to appreciate the uniqueness of the fish, I suppose that is the special relationship between the breeder and the grower. Very inspiring, thanks for posting this video, I'm glad to see you on this website again.

For anyone thinking of a pond depth is alot more beneficial for optimal growth of Koi Width & length can be sacrificed Swimming downwards will grow out a monster Koi alot faster 4 foot 11inch is the sweet spot I met a guy w/ 6 foot deep pond & he had the biggest & nicest Koi I have ever seen I wish I knew this before I built my pond I went for overall length 1000 gallons & only 3ft deep Guess ill have to make another right next to my first 🐟

Thanks for posting this video. I'm building my second pond now. Upgrading from a 250 gallon ecosystem pond to a 2500 gallon formal koi pond. I've been disheartened at times, looking at what equipment and fish cost, but this made me feel better about getting into the hobby. Thanks for the great videos. I am driving out to CA to visit this store next month.

I always watch these videos and I always see Japanese Koi. I have Israeli (which I think sometimes are just as good as Japanese). I have a Kikokuryu but it is nothing like that! I’m fairly knew to getting really into koi keeping. I got him for £30. I was just wondering if the quality of the koi is based on where it’s from?

Eliav Edri I got it from a small koi dealer in my local garden centre. Not sure about the breeder. I know for sure it’s Israeli. I think they’ve said it’s from ‘allpondsolutions’ farm..? It’s very gold with deep black that’s slowly crawling up to the head from the tail

allpondsolutions is a uk company It has several branches throughout the UK Their main area as their name implies is fish lol pond fish, aquarium fish equipment food... basically all you need for a pond or an aquarium. Maybe they buy their koi fish from Israel, I'm from Israel and I was just curious where you bought it, there's a huge farm half an hour from Tel Aviv, I bought all my fish from there, they have huge koi pond, most of the fish are sold on the world market, some are sold here.

Eliav Edri yeah I live in the UK. I was just really wondering if it’s mainly based on genetics or whether the quality comes from the birth place of the fish

it's not an honorable policy to not allow koi to be imported, it's protectionist. it means the japanese market will never ever ever ever buy foreign bred koi no matter how high the quality or safe the breeding practices. the only reason no country has brought them to court for this is no where else is there as big an interest in koi. imagine if koi all over the world could be brought to compete in japan.
