    Great vlog, My first and only trip to Koh Chang was in the 80's. No electricity-Kerosene lamp, no running water-thai bath, huts on White Sand Beach were USD$3 a night, great if you liked the quiet life

    Wow Colin, 80's, must have been amazing on KC! Curious if they had any bungalows up at the North end back then like the one's I saw at 16:30 in my White Sand vid: kzread.info/dash/bejne/f39qupmcetyxidI.html Reminded me of Chuck's Huts back in the day on Samui. Of course nothing stays the same anywhere but thankfully still many chill places around Koh Chang by the looks of things. STL

    Youre my favorite Thailand vlogger and have been for a couple of years now. You consistently find my kind of bargains and I admire how you seem to be truly relaxed and enjoying your solo trips. My impression was that you dont produce YT content for fame and fortune, but just to keep busy and give yourself an excuse to keep traveling. Of course, thats just my own imagination as youve never said that as far as I know, so I guess its silly that I am disappointed that you’d care whether or not YT recommends your videos or not! But hey, here is my comment after watching this one, as requested. Hope it helps you out.

    Thanks kindly Acta NonVerba. Deffo not in this for fame etc, just rather disheartening to spend hours filming/editing and get few views. Tempted to do mainly walk n talk style as these are dead easy, take little time and seem far more popular (joking, never going that way;). Or, just enjoy my travels with no cam (seriously). Btw, my latest vid is now also dying on the vine as it's again not on the YT 'suggested vid' algorithm train (where 90%+ views originate from) sigh... STL

    Hi Rudy in Cowtown. My Thai language is pretty basic actually, should know more but I get by (Koh=Island btw). Came to Thailand a few years back to start a biz and did ok thankfully. Also enjoyed living in your neck of the woods for a couple years. First rented a place on the hill behind the red dome as I liked the view (later Kensington, liked the vibe). Missed the ocean but as you say didn't miss Van prices. Anyways, good luck to all in the 'Battle of Alta' (as my Cannots are on the back nine again...) STL

    @@SideTripLife I do have a question. I have watched other videos about Koh Chang and there is one vlogger that talks about sand fleas (flies?) Did you find any problems with them? I haven’t heard any other vlogger talk about them and was curious since Koh Chang is one of the places we are visiting on our next trip.

  • @SideTripLife

    @SideTripLife

    2 жыл бұрын

    I WILL be bringing that up actually, as I became a sand flea buffett (!!) after i walked up one beach in particular... and I KNOW better, or should. Keep in mind it was one beach only and only one stretch of it where there was less activity around. TIPS: avoid going to beaches around sunset or sunrise, particularly IF walking or sitting at the top end of a beach near the treeline or tideline. Sand fleas love that environment, damp, debris, seaweed, shadows, foliage, etc However, resorts etc which sweep up the tideline debris each day can have few if any sand fleas. Last, rub a but of natural coconut oil from knees down and maybe exposed forearms as an added deterrent. Then if walking along the shore/waves area at sunset or sunrise, should be ok.

    Just curious if any of the other main Islands are a little flatter than Koh Chang. On my last visit I couldn't believe some of the road angles must have been close to 45 degrees. Since I like to tour on a recumbent trike, a little flatter road would help me survive in the heat. Your videos are simply the best & inspire me to go back to the wonderful Thai hospitality & my retirement destination.

    Koh Samui is a bit flatter but the ring road can feel more like a motorway these days. A chap who might know best has a channel called 'the JaYoe Nation'. He rode his recumbent bike throughout Asia. Just looked at his channel now and see he's talking about going back to do Borneo. So, contact him perhaps (and say hello from STL :)

    I actually LIKE that idea how you Link the Videos together by posting a Title Clip saying "In the Previous Video we did this..." it makes people say "Wait, what did I miss?" 😁 Yeah about your HD Problems, (I'm a Tech) one problem is POWER, Mechanical Drives require more Power, which is why you are having Problems using them with a Laptop, I would Religiously stick with SSD Drives for back up. Then you can Transfer it to a Mechanical Drive once you get to a Desk Top. Another Solution would be to buy a Mechanical Drive with it's Own Power Supply (you plug it in the Wall) this will keep it from Locking up. Mechanical Drives ARE Better for maintaining Quality, for Pics and Video, but Mechanical Drives are Terrible for Reliability. There are Viruses out there now that will Knock out your Control Card on your Mechanical Drive. You get one of these 4TB Mechanical Drives put all your stuff on there then Lose it all because of a HD Failure, you will learn. 😁
