Koh Phangan is NOT what you think!
If you think Koh Phangan is just one big party you are mistaken! Sure, if you go on or near a full moon then it's a madhouse, and that can be a lot of fun but if that's not your bag then THIS is YOUR video!
I recently spent 4 days on the island and this video covers Day 1. The ferry from Bangrak Seatran Pier, scooter rental, Haad Rin beach, snorkeling off the coast of Koh Ma and yeah, a night on the town (because, somebody's gotta do it!).

Wow what an amazing retiring life in Thailand…very convenient of everything like Perry boats,rental cars,motorcycles…awesome view from the hotel,bars that’s life enjoy be safe both.

Koh Phangan was not what I expected either! I only knew it for its full moon party reputation but like you I found that outside that time it’s so lovely and chilled

Yeah, exactly! It’s a beautiful place to enjoy some down time and connect with Mother Nature, good food and yeah a couple of cold ones!

Great island Koh Pha Ngan. Not only for youngsters or party people..The blend of different people with different backgrounds makes this island so special. Chill, clean, relaxed, friendly, just a few words that can describe this island briefly.

Dear Jim, I am not a doctor but here is my prescription… Next Saturday night. Go to your nearest/best local Thai restaurant and order it to go (tell the Mrs you’re picking up pizza). Stop along the way and pick up her favorite adult beverage. Upon arrival place a couple of candles on the coffee table in front of the tv, along with your nicest napkins (you know the ones). As you are enjoying your dinner together binge watch our channel. If that doesn’t close the deal the you might have to resort in outCall Thai Massage. Best of luck!
Coming down there in a couple weeks. Trying to avoid the party scene. Going to both Koh Samui and Koh phangan. Any place on the phangan that's more quite

Dear Akram, As I've only stayed in the southern part, I can definitely recommend there but I've only been the one time (4 days). What it really comes down to is what type of vacation you want and the kinds of places that you want easy access to. I'd say do your research and follow your gut (and the reviews). Have a great trip!!!
for my 1 time in thailand next week, im not sure if pick up koh samui and koh phangan or head to phuket and phi phi island... i guess im not rly for lot of peple and parties so ..

Dear Nicholas, next full moon is April 6 so if you are coming two weeks prior to that it’s a great time to catch Koh Phangan without all the partiers. If you want chill then go there if you want more of a tourist experience and nightlife then I would say Koh Samui is better. Have a great time!!!

Ed! Pay an extra 1000B or so a day to rent a car. Your life is worth that, isn't it? Are you really struggling for money you can't afford the extra money? With all due respect, when I see people on bikes I think either stupid or poor. If Thai, I assume poor. If Farang, I ask why not both? Wise up. You're 10x more likely to die in a motorbike accident than an accident in a car.
