I just hate his friends like don't get me wrong but they literally played the victim and threw him under the bus. Like they were the ones who encouraged him AND took part in the bullying. Like I'd rather be alone than have such friends

I think this movie really shows how a person can look perfectly fine living they're best life until you find out they took there life. And that whole time they had crying themselves to sleep, sadness behind a smile, pain behind a laugh, and thinking there life was useless

That's what Blink-182's Adam Song is about. A friend of the band in highschool who seemed like this happy extrovert with a lot of friends, but is actually depressed and commits suicide.

I love how this movie doesn't fall into the typical romantic anime, but instead delves into something much more deep. Bullying, depression, and the perspective of having a bad influence brought upon you.

When you finally realized the movie was not a love story but it was something more than that. this is just like me (shoya) everytime I go to school even in a public places I feel like I'm all alone . It's just so hard to approach someone because I'm afraid of being judge. So many voices in my head and I don't even understand my self having this anxiety and depression is like being scared and tired at the same time. So every time I watch this movie I imagined that I was like shoya. he fought that situation in his life I'm so proud of him , like it's his achievement , but I'm the one who's happy for him.

That was never a love story. It's a drama that explores themes of su1cide, mental health, friendship and real life problems. The romance part is just a bonus

I really wish more anime would do this. Instead of just showing a bully character get comeuppance, show them expressing remorse and trying to make amends. the only other show I have seen do this were SKET Dance, Interview with Monster Girls, Denpa Kyoushi, and Great teacher Onizuka.

This whole masterpiece of a movie is one gigantic emotional roller coaster. I haven't cried this much since watching my favorite Danganronpa characters die.

I wish I could’ve met Nishimiya when I was younger. I’m a partial mute to the point I only talk with people I am truly comfortable with (close family and friends), so I have communicated by writing my entire life. We could’ve gotten along so well since we communicate in the same way. It’s really difficult to communicate by writing, because often times people are impatient or the conversation will move on before I’m done writing. But with her she would patiently wait for my response, and I would patiently wait for her response. That would be so nice.

I don’t hate her or anything, but I wish I had the level of help that she had to get better at communication. I didn’t have enough time to live out the youthful experiences I wanted to since it was senior year I started to get better.

This movie showed the struggle of self forgiveness and self acceptance and the challanges that come with so fucking well. I can't e Help but get emotional. All the time

Yuzuro is the most amazing sister anyone could want. She could’ve called Nishimiya a freak and be embarrassed of being her sister and bullied her but instead she loved and supported her and was very brave and caring. Love her

I’ve been getting into anime when I first watched this. I’ve been trying to dodge this for some time thinking this would bore me. After watching, I stopped watching films or series for quite a time because I couldn’t forget how personally painful this film has been for me. Even accidentally seeing some clips from the film makes it difficult for me.

This whole movie is amazing but the last scene issss the best actually the whole movie is the bessst

Question (but I'm sure no one will agree with me): If there was a Hollywood live action adaptation of this movie then who would you cast to play the characters? On my opinion, they should cast the actress from a quiet place for shouko. She's actually deaf in real life. And also she taught the cast of the movie ( a quiet place) how to do sign language. I think she could be a perfect fit for her. But as for the others, what do you guys think?

In a perfect adaption. Many unknown actors who are great would fill the main character rolls. And who you mentioned to okay Shouko would be cool to see. Maybe someone else who is unknown. Idk. And the setting would have to be changed (Americanized) to fit. That’s what I think
