Kotagiri is a notable hill station and traditional home of the "kota" in the Nilgiris District of Tamil Nadu. The name ‘Kota-giri’ itself means ‘mountains of the kotas’. Kothagiri is known for its stunning natural beauty, tea plantations, and peaceful atmosphere.
Kodanad is located close to the easternmost point of the Nilgiris, which is 1793mtrs above sea level. The bus fare from Kotagiri bus stand is just Rs. 14. And I think they have buses plying back and forth up to 9 PM. You can inquire at the bus stand if you plan to return late from the viewpoint.
Kodanad view point gives a great glimpse of the Nilgiris with some really good view. Amidst the adjoining tea estate the view and areas around the view point make good choice as photo shoot spots. On a great weather this place could be a photographer's paradise.
