I used the Kodak TMAX400 120 film for many years, I shot it at 200 ASA/ISO and developed it in a thin solution for a long time with very few and very gently agitations, in that way the film had more grey tones and had still very good contrast, in modern words, larger dynamic range. I guess you can do the same with a Ilford Delta 400 film. Of paper I used Ilford Multigrade. Made great images from my 6x6 Hasselblad ! I also used Kodak TMAX 400 with my Nikon F3.

Thimoty Andersen thanks a ton, what a thoughtful compliment :) street photography is the single most requested episodes. I'm new to film and we're all pretty new to manual cameras. We need more practice with zone focusing I think before we attempt it but I promise it's on my mind constantly! 😊 thanks so much for watching, keep in touch. I love feedback.

If you want saturated, vivid colors on overcast conditions go for Velvia, Provia or E100, that is what it was built for

We should have brought color film on this trip, didn't think it would be a very colorful place to visit but boy were we wrong!

I like Tmax 400, I also like XP2 and Delta 400. I shoot a lot of black and white and develop it myself since its cheaper and easier to do at home. The color stocks all go to the lab cause color film is a pain to develop at home.

@@ActiveCapture It is some interesting stuff because its a C41 film you get a way bigger exposure latitude than you do with even normal Black and White films.

I recommend JCH 400 or TrX 400 for those cloudy, hazy, dull, foggy days.

I'll try these recommendations the next time we go out on a hazy day! Funny enough, we used our only roll of TrX on the sunniest day possible. Oh well! We'll get it right next time. Film photography has been a crazy learning process, lucky for us it's a lot of fun. :)

Hi, I see you shot a roll of TMax.. Excellent film by all accounts, but I wasn't that blown away by it (likely my fault). However, I shot a roll of Ilford Delta 400 the other day in my Trusty Spotmatic SP ii and a 35mm f/3.5 Takumar, I just found on Ebay. I shot the film with a Hoya Orange O(G) Filter and pushed one stop in DD-X developer. I think I like it more than TMax 400, it looks a little grainier but not as flat looking as the Kodak T-Grain film. I was also impressed how flat Delta dries and how well it looks printed.

Superb eye for textures, patterns and shapes, the weather didn't help at all. You did really well getting the exposure so good in so many different lights. I'm not sure whose channel this is, but if the guy with the earring in is the one teaching he is doing a brilliant job.

Rheannon is a brilliant artist not only in photography but in all artistic mediums. Yeah, I (Alex, the guy behind the camera) am teaching these guys everything I possibly can from what I learned from shooting digital but we all started with film at the same time. Thank you so much for your wonderful compliment. I just want to show the world that anyone who's determined and puts in the time can do this! I really appreciate your viewership and I'm looking forward to your comments in the future.

She is very good, but so are you at teaching. The same basic exposure and composition rules apply with both digital and film but with film there's more choice film, developer etc. I don't think film or digital is better than the other, both have their strengths and weaknesses, but film is much more rewarding when you're in the darkroom with a print. I spend far too much time on my bed with a health condition with my iPad in my hand so I'm always commenting on videos.
