Some historical sources suggest that instruments with a bow appeared in the early Middle Ages. One of them is common for Uzbeks, Tajiks, Turkmen and Azerbaijanis - Gijak or Kemancha. Scientists associate their appearance with the name of the famous scientist Avicenna, who lived in the 10th century. Kazakh kobyz is considered no less ancient and the name Korkyt is closely connected with it. He is considered the inventor of this instrument and the first musician to play it, as well as the first composer.
