kobol xpansion -- HWJ Weekend Challenge 'G.A.S. Jam' with the Behringer Kobol Expander

Музыка

The Kobol Expander satisfied my latest episode of G.A.S. - the well known gear acquisition syndrome. Some of us more susceptible than others... This week's challenge is do a jam in any style, but using your latest G.A.S.-sed piece of gear.
So, my Black Friday treats were the Behringer kobol Expander and Cre8 Audio's NiftyKEYZ. The kobol expander is the main featured synth, backed by usual suspects Yamaha SY99, Waldorf Iridium, Groove Synthesis 3rd Wave and Yamaha Montage.
Needless to say the Iridium & 3rd Wave were prior G.A.S. additions !
* Apologies for the titling typos -- they're ADS style envelope generators, ADR*

It was a characteristic of the original kobol, that they had worked to recreate like the original.

Oh that Kobol is fun looking but it’s the NiftyKeyz that would be interesting to add!!

The NiftyKEYZ does quite a lot, and the keybed is better than I was expecting. I'm trying to figure out how to load it up with modules for 4 synth voices driven by the keyboard & Fluxus1 for a compact/portable jam station pairing with a TR-8s or something

@@DrSynthyeah, it’s interesting. I have two Weston TZ0s that I could make a cool two voice..

@@acefstripe I have a TZ0 and 2 PA0's -- Love the Weston stuff (Also have their AD110 Drum Synthsizer module). Getting greedy though trying to get a 4 voice config into the NiftyKEYZ using Befaco Pony VCO's...

Well then, Weekend HWJ theme accomplished ! You'll like... it can get quite nicely dirty and grungy & the filter can squeal with quite a scream

I dont understand the sound come from another synth and is manipulated with the kobol ? Thanks

That is the sound of the Kobol itself (the bass sound) I'm playing the knobs in real time, the notes are coming from MIDI. There are other synths playing in the track as well, but they're not being processed by Kobol. It does have an external audio in to the filter to you could do that if you wanted
