Kobe is widely regarded as one of the best basketball players of all time.
He’s won five NBA championships with the Lakers and led the NBA in scoring during two seasons. He’s an 18-time All-Star, a 15-time member of the All-NBA Team, a 12-time member of the All-Defensive Team. He holds the NBA record for the most seasons played with one franchise for an entire career: 20 seasons.
In 2018, he received an Academy Award for his animated short “Dear Basketball.” He also just launched a podcast called The Punies that teaches kids morals and history in a really fun way.
Kobe’s known for what he calls his Mamba Mentality, but it’s his big heart that is truly admirable. He is constantly reinventing himself and continuing to pursue new dreams.
There is so much power in his energy and presence. I know you’re really going to love this one.

How ironic, his father told him if he score 0 or if he score 60 he's going to love him no matter what...his very first game he scored 0 and his very last game he scored 60. Amazing.

That means doing the hard stuff, reviewing our losses to correct mistakes and change behaviors which causes us to lose. Wow.

I was so excited when I saw the clip of Kobe and clicked on the video so quickly. Grew up watching him with my family which kept a dear memory in my heart. It was a time when my siblings and I could connect with my dad, my older brother David and younger sister and brother. Kobe was my brother’s absolute favorite player. David and Kobe shared the same mentality of “if you can do it, I can do it too, and do it better.” David can always motivate me when I need it the most. He would always want to inspire his siblings to be the best. David unfortunately passed away 12.12.16, and I wish we could have went to Kobe’s last game together. Thanks for the interview Lewis! Definitely looking forward to reading Kobe’s book.

MY NOTES FROM THIS PODCAST: 3:12 important thing to say to your children. 10:22 if you wanna win championships, first get a championship mentality. 15:52 greatest challenge of Kobe Bryant. 20:10 rest at the end, not in the middle. 22:25 losing means you have different ways to get better. 25:10 watch yourself and learn from it. 28:15 nothing is ever perfect but try hard to get it as perfect as it can be.

Even though im not the icon or no where near the success that kobe is...its comforting to know that others have a mindset like this becuase its not the norm and is incredibly hard to be this way around people who dont get it. Just like kobe you are look at as hard to be around, hard to live with, why dont you have fun, everybody cant do what you do, everybody is not like you...etc And the hardest thing to understand is no matter how successful you are, dosent matter that you rarely make mistakes or how easy life can be with a mindset like this...people that dont get it will still vilify you..

American Amman vlog, he is greatness personified, athletes of black and white are great, but as a black, so proud to have him as my favorite player of all time. If you work hard and be in good shape, and be strongly committed, you will make it in the NBA. League is in decline among white Americans players as elite, but if they do the main courses that I named they will make it and succeed.

Words cannot explain how much I loved this interview. Such great questions from Lewis. As a die hard Lakers fan, i always loved watching Kobe's interviews but he was always reserved as a player and never shared his secrets much. But now that he is retired, he's so much more open and its so inspiring and educational listening to him break things down and what his mental process is like. Great episode!!
