From 2008-2010 Kobe Bryant beat more 50+ win teams than Magic Johnson did during his entire 13 year career with the Lakers including a 59 win Orlando Magic Team that had the #1 defense in the NBA led by Dwight Howard. Kobe's playoff runs aren't mentioned enough by mainstream media outlets.

This video shows a real representation of Kobe's entire game. He wasn't just a scorer. He was a great passer, great facilitator, a great leader, a great defensive player, a coach on the court, and his knowledge of the game was as vast, and extensive as anyone could ever get at their profession of choice. He understood the flow of the game itself. That's why he could miss his first 6 or 7 shots in the first half, not sweating it at all, and then hit 9 of his next 10 shots when it really mattered in the second half, and the 4th quarter. All Kobe cared about was keeping the game within reach to have a chance to win at the end, or trying to keep a lead. He knew that the first 3 quarters of the game mean little as long as the game is within 10 points or less going into the 4th quarter. Kobe would often use the first half of competitive games to download information on what he could get away with against certain matchups, and defensive rotations, then he would come out and turn up the dial against his opponents during the second half. There were also a lot of games where Kobe was so dominant offensively from the start that he wouldn't even play the 4th quarter if the Lakers were ahead big on the scoreboard. That 81 point game was not an anomally. Kobe could have had 4 or 5 80 point games in his career, but he didn't care about stats. He only cared about winning the game, and winning championships. Kobe was a basketball genius. He could turn his scoring on and off almost at will, and even in the rare cases when his shot wasn't falling, he would effect the game in so many different ways that he could still be the most impactful player on the court. That's why he had 5 rings, and that's why Kobe is far better than any player since MJ left the Bulls in retirement in 1998/1999. Nobody has met that standard that MJ set for the Guard/SF positions other than Kobe Bryant.

Plus the tape undeniably separated Him from anyone that could be considered a PEER of his era by even todays standards. ISO joe never got far so many other potent scorers even when AI was with MELO Mamba was right there waiting. Kobe was the Real thing on both ends. Its what made the narrative against LBJ/compared to MJ...so arguable. BC Kobe would just step into the 4th on an entirely different level than anyone on the court. Jimmy Buckets said it himself after his insane bubble finals game...postgame already defeated BC he knew he could never accomplish a performance of that level/mins played etc on MJ/Kobes level on a consecutive basis. He then realized the amount of time/work it took the conditioning physically and mentally. It was mindblowing even to HIM a dude that just played his best game all time/ever in his career. The Gap was eye opening even for him. That postgame/conference was pretty eye opening enough in the modern era. He was also paying respect to LBJ for being able to play all positions/covers etc and know the game inside and out. But it says a lot about what a true 5* elite player really is in the league.

In 2009, Kobe was at the peak of his career before slowly declining from 2009 to 2013. Phil Jackson mentioned in his book (11 Rings And The Soul Of Success) that the 2009-2010 season was much tougher than the 2007-2008 or the 2008-09 as Kobe began aging, this implying his decline. 2009 was redemption as he won his title without Shaq. Defeating the Celtics the year after was for me the sweetest victory as they are the Lakers' eternal rivals.

They had some great chemistry because they kept their core together for quite a few years and then added good pieces over time to it, like Gasol, Ariza, and Fisher and they played with an urgency after loosing to the Celtics in the final that year before.
