If he was 22-24 years old I'd be really impressed, but all this ability and performance at 18 in his first sustained 6 months of top level football is quite shocking. He's come on leaps and bounds from last year when he debuted as a 17 year old, though even then he looked composed and kept things simple..but now he's shown his ability on the ball, his strength on the ball, his ability to win the ball back and his ability to operate in tight spaces as well as beat a man with a dribble. What a talent! Oh, and he's scoring goals too?! From central midfield?! Ten hag deserves credit for not only spotting the talent but nurturing him and giving him this chance This past pre-season ten hag was waxing lyrical about how good Mainoo was and I didn't pay much attention to it. I could see how good he was performing but it was just pre-season. The big injury was a huge set back but now we can all see why the manager was so excited for Kobbie this season and maybe why he wasn't so keen to add to the midfield by keeping sabitzer or getting more similar players in. Amrabat loan definitely seemed like a rotation player for casemiro and mount taking the 7 (attacking role) seemed more a replacement for Donny vdb in the squad.
