I know it's kind of a late reply but... If any of you are still interested in these sort of anime, a lot of CLAMP works give the similar vibe. Cardcaptor sakura, Tsubasa Chronicles of the wings, Chobits, xxxHolic, Rayearth are also made by CLAMP which produced this anime Kobato. Hence, a lot of the characters look the same just like how Kohaku looks like Sakura, Kiyokazu is long haired Syaoran, the landlord looks like the landlord from Chobits and her daughters are from Chobits (Chii and her twin). I can't stress how beautiful CLAMP's works are. Their OST for tsubasa is made by the legendary Yuki Kajiura. Please give them a try if you enjoy these type of sweet, sad yet innocent and beautiful anime. :)

Well, have you watched Clannad? That was the anime which made me cry the worst. I was watching it during the day in my room, and since I cried, I looked all tired and my mom thought I was watching too much TV. Lol. 2023 and still sobbing over this series

After all this years, I have finally remember the name of this anime. I always remember the ending and bits of it. I was having a hard time searching, always being able not to grasp the exact name, failed searches, and after all those attempts, I give up. Years later, those memories again came back to me and now I have known that the title is Kobato then I finally watch it again. It never fails to make me cry especially the ending. So, hearing this song makes me emotional. :')

for such an old anime the art and animation is very pretty actually
