Tails is male, but his voice actor is female. Longtime anime voice artist Colleen O’Shaughnessey reprising her role from the original games is a plus! (13:28) He named the coffee shop The Mean Bean. A nod to an old SEGA Game Gear game!

Idris Elba did the same thing as Chief Bogo in Zootopia. He did quite a clever joke in that movie.

I came to the movies to see Tails, he’s my favorite character (when he was useful in the games of course) I came here expecting to see him being useful and I was not disappointed but what surprised me the most was Knuckles. They made him how he is supposed to be, tough, strong, serious, knows how to fight and since he doesn’t know about the human world, he’s ignorant and naive about some stuff but NOT stupid. I simply loved that.

Usually, regardless of Sonic's age, they state that Knuckles is older than him by a year (That being the case, if Sonic is 16, Knuckles would be 17) and Tails is portrayed being 8-11 years old, mainly 8.

@@thedarkknight2424 I'm pretty sure they're just talking about Knuckles and not Tails. Tails was exactly the way he should be in this film, a cute genius kid who's a huge fan of Sonic and is a little timid because he's not used to being on big adventures yet, but still has time to be a kid also. I'm sure the lightning thing will come up at some point. Jeff Fowler is definitely aware of the fact that it's a substantial part of his character. If the movies go on long enough (Paramount has a reputation of keeping a film series going for as long as possible), we might even get some kind of character arc where Tails overcomes his fear of lightning. I'm not against that as long as it's done well.

I went to see this in 4d and man… I had the biggest stupid smile on my face the whole way through the film. I love this so much, all the references and action and animation. Super cool movie. 💙💛❤️

I think it’s safe to say that out of all the video game movies, the sonic movies are a good example of how it’s done right! Also, part 3 let’s go!!!

Love this movie (as someone who's always been biased just heard Sonic throughout my life through pop culture and barley saw the TV shows never played the games) I'm hoping they don't f**k up the third movie big steps for taking video game movie somewhat seriously and adding better writing

When I saw the ending credits with Shadow I literally screamed. He was my favorite character in the cartoon and the game. I can't wait for the 3rd movie to come out.

If shadow is coming in the 3rd film I hope they will make the film a little dark since he has a tragic backstory.

This movie is one of the best I’ve seen this year so far! My theater experience was great and as a Sonic fan, it was a lot of fun! Idris Elba as Knuckles is awesome and the post credits scene was so much hype!

Ben Schwartz, Colleen O'Shaugnessy, and Idris Elba did such amazing jobs in the voices of Sonic, Tails and Knuckles!!! Especially Jim Carrey, James, Tika, Lee and other actors playing Dr. Robotnik/Eggman, Tom/Donut Lord, Maddie/Pretzel Lady, Agent Stone and the other human characters!! Kudos to them all!! And as an old Sonic nerd, I really love the movie so much. SPOILERS BELOW: In theatres, the whole audience literally screamed so loud along with me and my little sister when they mentioned and showed Shadow in the post credits! We all can't wait for Part 3!!!!!

I’m so glad someone else appreciates this line as much as I did!

I saw this opening night with my friends. Our Theater laughed so hard when the Priest pulled out a gun from the Bible. That part was very funny for some reason. We also freaked out when shadow was revealed. Great movie and definitely worth the money.

the reason we had the wedding/agent scene was because they actually come into play which is accurate to the series. the Olive Garden General from the first movie is part of G.U.N., a in game group of agents that deal with the more alien cases like Sonic and he's friends, Eggman's shenanigans and whatever crazy stuff happens in Sonic's universe, which is a lot actually. G.U.N. is also in games where Shadow plays a big part so even if it seems out of place they atleast make sense. not only that but i like that Donut Lord and he's wife get more credit to being here: they are Sonic's parents now and them helping is vital to Sonic growing as the hero he is and now with Knuckles and Tails that family has grown. I seriously can't understand how people got upset with these aspects and turn a blind eye at how much better these are compared to the first movie.

The film's director worked on the CGI cutscenes for the Shadow the Hedgehog game. Fitting that he would circle back to Shadow now.

His behavior makes sense, because he hated sonic before meeting egg man. It’s pretty easy to manipulate anyone when you show that you also hate what they hate. Pretty much, in knuckles perspective, it looked like they both shared the same goals of thinking sonics the bad guy, even though there were a lot of red flags saying otherwise

Who’s hyped for Sonic Movie 3!

I was literally crying and shaking in my seat during Super Sonic’s intro!

The super sonic I did not expect to see when I went into the cinema, and that music was fan fricken tastic. by far my fav movie this year, doubt they’ll be able to top this but hopefully the next is the close second

I get chills everytime I see sonic turn into super sonic. I screamed of excitement when shadow appeared in the credit scene!!!!!

Sonic 2 was an absolute blast. Loved the chemistry between Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles and Jim Carrey still rocks as Eggman. Excited to see Shadow in Sonic 3 and see the universe expand more ❤.

This was an amazing movie and you are right about several of the scenes being inspired by video game levels. I loved the nod to Sonic's roots and they did it without it feeling forced. This included the snow level with Sonic snow boarding, the temple level where the Master Emerald was, and Green Hills is the name of the 1st Sonic level ever! You asked how Knuckels and Robotnik had a ring but Knuckles always had them that was how he found Robotnik. I was REALLY happy about the Shadow but could sort of sense it coming when they were alluding to something more. It would be criminal to keep this amazing saga going without Shadow. There have been different portrayals of how Shadow's powers work but in one version it was described as him being able to use Chaos Control with only one Chaos Emerald. Since in this version the Emeralds grant more than super strength and teleportation I wonder if we will get to see Shadow do the kind of stuff Robotnick and Super Sonic did with only one Emerald and maybe something universal level if he gets all of them. Speaking of which you were wondering how Knuckles fixed the Master Emerald. 1st the secrets of the emerald are part of his tribe and 2nd the Master Emerald is mostly known for being able to neutralize or contain pretty much anything; it was the Chaos Emeralds inside that were giving Robotnik and Super Sonic powers. Since the Master Emerald can contain anything it seems that the Echidnas used it to contain the Chaos Emeralds so they could use them all at once in a single object. When the Master Emerald broke we saw the Chaos Emeralds fall out and it seems Super Sonic sent them flying in various directions. So the Master Emerald might not currently have any super power inside it but it would still have the abiltiy to absorb or contain things.

That giant eggman was called the death egg robot in sonic 3

This world just keeps building and the stakes are getting higher! I can foresee Sonic 3 succeeding well! Just hoping Jim Carrey returns though despite announcing when he wants to retire. 🤞

(At 24:20) at this point, after hearing what Knuckles went through, this makes you wonder "who's the real victim? The Owls Or The Echidnas? Because the Warrior Owls were wiped out, but now the Power Hungry Echidnas are nearly close right behind them to Extinction and HAD to endure worse.

I love how you pogged when they showed Shadow in the credits scene. That was more/less my reaction too.

I was actually expecting one of the Sonic video game OST to be played in this movie like E.G.G.M.A.N or Believe in Myself.

People shouldn't blame TIM MILLER for the failure of "Terminator: Dark Fate" He was the director, not the writer It was James Cameron's idea to kill that character Miller deserves another chance because he still got a lot to offer Have anyone seen LOVE, DEATH + ROBOTS?

I Discovered Ben Schwartz From The First Sonic Movie!

When I saw this in cinema with my friends, there was only one family in there so I didn't hold back any of my reactions. I am not ashamed to say that during the end credits scene I leapt onto my seat and almost screamed in excitement

When my family and I went to see this in theaters, I had 1 expectation, that the movie be good, and 2 hopes that I wasn't expecting to be filled, those being Super Sonic and Shadow. This movie blew all of my expectations out of the water Also, my favourite part, besides Super Sonic and Shadow was just Knuckles saying "dot dot dot... dot dot dot..."

Awesome job on your reaction Cody! Also if anyone is looking for a super fun Sonic game to play on mobile I would highly recommend Sonic Forces Speed Battle! It has so many Sonic characters and right now they are doing an event for a chance to get Sonic movie characters! Specials (Movie Sonic, Movie Tails, and Longclaw) and Challenger (Movie Knuckles)!

(At 36:18) yeah when the commander said that that was kind of a dick move. Almost just as bad as Jafar turning him into a Cobra. Jafar: perhaps you like to see how *"Snake-like"* I can be? Eggman: you want to see how *"big a man"* I can be?

the movie was so awesome to me, I was abit spoiled by the Shadow scene at the end but I was still so happy he appeared meaning we're getting a third movie, it makes me happy the directors know what we Sonic fans want

Shadow's my favorite Sonic character ever and seeing how well they portrayed Knuckles gives me hope that my favorite character will be restored to his former glory in Sonic 3.

At 32:24 when he says “it looks like one of the maps from the games”, you actually got it right, the map is called, Labyrinth Zone. The director actually confirmed that the temple IS Labyrinth Zone from Sonic 1 (the game, not movie)
