Hello Chris. I love the video shot of the Kennametal knife tool in the middle of machining steel during roughing, the blue chips are perfect. For finishing the pointed diamond shaped tool VNMG 432 seems perfect.

Hate them sqwermy wormmies that wrap around the tool. For me they wait till the finish pass at the end of the cut just to try and wrap around the chuck... thanks for sharing. Have a good Easter. Charles

Beautiful Parts! When you cut the threads, do you cut on both sides of the tool same amount or feed the tool in at an angle to cut more on one side of the cutter? Thank You!

It's a cnc lathe. You can choose if you want to cut both sides or just one side.

Chris, thanks for another great video! Any idea why someone chose to put over 3000lbs of steel in the swarf bin (not to mention the machine time) rather than making the eyes out of plate and using much smaller round bar? Respectfully curious (and someone has to ask!)

Far lower chance of failure if its 1 piece. You don't need to make sure the welder pre heated, post heated, monitored inter pass temps, wasn't drunk etc. If its part of the production line for a steel mill, the increased part cost might be 2-3 seconds of runtime for the mill. Engineers like to do the finger pointing, not be pointed at, so overkill it is.

Pracuje od czasu do czasu na tokarce o podobnej budowie z hh620 i głowicą Multifix. Trzeba się mocno pilnować z wymianą narzędzi, szkoda że ktoś przyoszczędził na głowicy rewolwerowej

It looks like the insert cuts alternating left and right during cutting the thread? If so that would be very smart to load the insert symmetrically instead of basically using only one side when plunging in on say 29.5°

I think it's called alternate or zigzag threading. At least, that's what it's called in fanuc manual guide. About that other question, I don't really have an email that I can share for everyone.

That's a Kennametal top notch threading insert? How do you find rigidity in that grooving style holder. I've only used the basic holders for M68x6 thread on 316 type of material. Also tell the mill department to buy some high feed tooling 😉🙂

It's actually an ISCAR threading tool. That is the only tool I use for all types of threads, never had a problem.

Great work, but why didn't you start with a smaller diameter rod and then weld on a knuckle? That would have made the material cost much lower and probably cheaper overall once you add in the welding cost.

대형 기업은 이런 바이트 팁 자체 생산이 아주 좋다. 이유 너무 많이 사용되고 조금만 사용해도 깨지거나 마모되서 자주 교체하거나 자주 점검해야 한다. 또한 자동화 로봇팔 CNC가공에서는 사람이 일일이 지켜 볼수가 없다. 즉. 정해진 바이트 마모예상 시간 이전에 미리 빨리 교체하는것이 좋고 기존 사용하던 팁은 과감히 재활용장 가거나 황삭에만 사용한다. 와. 바이트 팁 제조 공정 특징상 하루 제조 량이 어마어마 하면서 작은 인력으로 대량생산이 가능하다.
