Know Your African Feminists: Dr. Amina Mama

Voice, Power, and Soul:
Conversations from the 4th African Feminist Forum
DR. AMINA MAMA (Nigeria)
In April 2016, the African Feminist Forum held its fourth regional gathering in Harare, Zimbabwe with 160 feminists from 27 African countries. Over three days, participants explored the question of how we build and shift power in the domains of resources, bodily rights, and our agency in creating an Africa free of patriarchal oppression.
Voice, Power and Soul: Conversations from the 4th African Feminist Forum is significant in that it features what is likely to be, the largest and most diverse set of interviews with African feminists on film to date. The 28 interviews with feminists from 13 countries, interspersed with footage from the forum itself, offers documentation of African feminist movement history - memories of game-changing political moments, stories of activism unearthed from pan-African feminist research, and analysis of contemporary feminist struggles by the women who have bravely helped shape them.
The African Feminist Forum is hosted by the African Women's Development Fund (AWDF).

The image of “macho” has more to do with who controls media. The black panther structured it’s imagery around many themes that weren’t seen.

Western Feminism begins as protecting the rights of Women but end in Tribalist Gender Wars, Feminism is no friend to African Culture, just ask the hoards of Diaspora American ADOS fleeing the failed Black American Community. African Women, don't make a similar mistake of "Throwing the Baby out with the bath water", and "Be Weary of Greeks bearing Gifts". American BMGTOW
